Title: Academic Faculty, Assistant Clinical Professor

The Pace University - Lenox Hill Hospital Physician Assistant program is a Master of Science program.
This 26 month course of study consists of 14 months of intense didactic work and 12 months of clinical clerkships. In the didactic phase students integrate courses in basic science, clinical medicine, behavioral medicine and pharmacology.

ARC-PA has granted Accreditation-Continued status to the Pace University-Lenox Hill Hospital PA Program.

Responsibilities: 

  • Coordinate, teach, and/or evaluate instruction in core/professional courses in the didactic phase,
  • participate in the development and ongoing revision of didactic learning objectives and examinations,
  • develop and revise Student Handbooks, maintain student advisory group,
  • act as the interface between the program and course instructors,
  • engage in scholarly and community service activity,
  • participate in program recruitment and admission interview process,
  • participate in grant projects, participate in national, state, and/or leadership activities relevant to physician assistant education and practice.

Qualifications:

Touro Manhattan PA Program is a non-traditional, intense 32-month program, leading to the dual degrees of Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences and Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies. Responsibilities

  • Teaching and evaluating Physician Assistant students
  • Provide advising and academic counseling of students
  • Participate in the evaluation, development, implementation and improvement of the curriculum
  • Contribute to the ongoing self-assessment process of the program

Mary Baldwin College, is in the process of developing a 27-month Master Degree Physician Assistant Program through its new Murphy Deming College of Health Sciences. We invite individuals with exceptional skills and experience in medical education and/or practice to apply for a full-time, 12-month position as a Physician Assistant Program core faculty member. One position is scheduled to begin in January 2015 and the other in June 2015 (start dates negotiable).

Pending accreditation, The Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MSPA) will welcome its first students in August of 2015. Mary Baldwin’s goal is to prepare compassionate health care providers with a focus on meeting the needs of the communities it serves.

Job Description/Requirements:

The Physician Assistant Program core faculty reports to the Founding Director of the PA Program. Both positions are full time, non-tenure track appointments carrying rank.

  • Responsibilities include teaching in a collaborative and interprofessional environment, service to the college and community and development of a scholarly agenda consistent with teaching responsibilities.  

Qualifications - Required:

  • Graduate of an accredited program in either PA education or allopathic/osteopathic medicine.
  • Master’s degree.
  • Current NCCPA certification and licensure in good standing in the Commonwealth of Virginia if a PA or Medical Doctor/Doctor of Osteopathy. Physician Assistant or Physician applicants not licensed in Virginia must secure one within six (6) months of their start date at the program.
  • Commitment to learner-centered education, innovative educational models, and readiness to participate in interprofessional education opportunities with Occupational and Physical Therapy faculty and students as well as other professionals.
  • Strong organizational, communication, decision-making, teamwork, interpersonal & leadership skills.
  • Sensitivity to diversity and multi-cultural issues.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Minimum three (3) years of practice experience


Qualifications - Preferred:

  • Prior didactic teaching experience in a physician assistant or medical school program.
  • Prior experience as a clinical instructor or preceptor.

MEDEX Northwest is looking for passionate and creative educators to complete our growing and experienced faculty. MEDEX is looking for full-time faculty positions in Spokane and Seattle. The positions involve responsibilities in support of both the didactic and clinical phase of our curriculum.

MEDEX Northwest is one of the pioneering PA programs. Current faculty have been instrumental in making our satellite campuses more than on par with our main campus located at the historical University of Washington. Our relatively new site in Tacoma is completely staffed and well situated at the University of Washington Tacoma. Spokane is one of our older satellite campuses and is only lacking one more core faculty member. Here on the main campus, MEDEX is also looking for two more hands on faculty members. Currently, we have invested into a brand new state of the art classroom fully equipped to support our aspiring PAs to the best of their ability.

Qualifications:

MEDEX NW places a great deal of pride in our students and in the mission statement reflected by them. We are looking for candidates enthusiastic about what they teach and more importantly, what they can pass on to the up and coming class of PAs. Candidates will be graduates of an accredited physician assistant program and current in their national certification from the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).

A Master’s degree is not required, but strongly encouraged.

  • Evaluate current and future needs in clinical education and recommend goals for the clinical year curriculum.
  • Monitor the Program's current clinical training sites, develop new sites and provide training for preceptors.
  • Exercise professional judgment to develop a balanced and appropriate set of preceptorship experiences for each student.
  • Monitor students during their clinical rotations and make preceptorship site visits.
  • Develop and implement post-preceptorship educational experiences and evaluation procedures.
  • Maintain Program/preceptor relations that include promoting preceptor development programs.
  • Implement a program for preceptor recognition by awarding CME category 1 credits.
  • Assist with on-going preceptorship development for both the on-campus, distance, and wisPACT students.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as part of the PA Program faculty.
  • Actively participate in program administration.

Qualifications - Required:

  • Master's degree or doctorate required.
  • Minimum of two years of clinical practice.
  • NCCPA certification as a physician assistant.
  • Current WI licensure as a physician assistant

Responsibilities: 

A Physician Assistant Program faculty member is responsible for imparting academic knowledge and a clinical perspective to students. The faculty member is a team member, although under the general supervision of the Director of Didactic Education.

Essential duties and responsibilities of a full-time faculty member include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Satisfactory completion of tasks assigned by the Director of Didactic Education or his/her designee, such as a Course Coordinator.
  • Didactic instruction within the PA Program curriculum.
  • Development of behavioral learning objectives consistent with the missions of the PA Program and the terminal graduate PA competencies noted by the NCCPA.
  • Function as a professional role model, academic advisor and referral resource.

  • Maintaining a current PA Florida or USVI license.
  • Professional and ethical conduct.
  • Diversity is encouraged.
  • Administrative duties to be assigned.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have a minimum of a MS/MA degree and a PA certificate of MD degree. Current Florida licensure or eligibility is required, as is current NCCPA certification for physician Assistant faculty member. A minimum of five years of clinical experience is desired.

Other qualifications and skills include:

  • Ability to read and interpret scientific journals.
  • Ability to demonstrate and teach clinical reasoning.
  • Ability to represent the profession and the Barry University PA Program to the community.

  • MSc, MPhil, ResM, PhD or equivalent postgraduate qualification in an area relevant to medicine, dentistry, healthcare or education
  • Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (or able to achieve within 12 months of appointment)
  • Postgraduate qualification in education/teaching and learning

Qualifications - Preferred:

  • Evidence of successful teaching that is underpinned by best educational practices using a range of different teaching and learning modalities
  • Evidence of excellence in promoting and transforming the student learning experience
  • Demonstrates a commitment to advance own educational capability through personal development, including evaluation of own teaching practice
