When: April 7, 2010, 1 PM, EDT

Moderator: Bettie Coplan, MPAS, PA-C

Presenters:   Scott Massey, PhD, PA-C
                      Cathy C. Ruff, MS, PA-C
                      Meredith Davison, PhD, MPH

Did you know that a paper or poster presentation at national-level conferences usually carries more weight in terms of academic promotion than do lecture-type presentations? The Call for Proposals will open the first week in April for the 2010 PAEA Annual Education Forum, and this webinar will improve your chances of having your paper or poster proposal accepted and also enhance your CV.

The PAEA Education Committee encourages you to submit a paper or poster for this year’s Education Forum and invites you to sign up for this webinar to learn about the submission process. The webinar will focus both on the specific guidelines and criteria for submission along with key suggestions of ways to improve your chances of acceptance. It will also provide and discuss ideas about what you may already be doing in your program that could easily be submitted as a poster or paper proposal.

The webinar will explain a new category of paper and poster presentation, called educational innovations, and the relatively simple methods that you can use to convert classroom action research or “applied pedagogical research” into a platform of scholarship.

As a result of this webinar, participants will feel more comfortable with the submission process and will improve their chances of submitting a successful paper or poster proposal.

Learning Objectives:
At the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize topics that could qualify as a paper or poster submission
  • Identify the required guidelines for the paper and poster submission process
  • Identity the criteria upon which each proposal is evaluated
  • Differentiate original research from educational innovation submissions
  • List ways to increase the likelihood of a proposal being accepted
