Responsibilities:

This is a full time 12-month administrative faculty appointment. Reporting directly to the Dean of SHRS, the program director will provide strong leadership for the academic program by implementing and evaluating PA curriculum, building effective relationships with faculty, staff, students and other stakeholders, recruiting qualified faculty, and promoting excellence in classroom/clinical teaching and scholarship. The successful candidate will have demonstrated knowledge of PA education profession, accreditation, and must be either a board-certified physician or NCCPA, and currently licensed or eligible for PA licensure in Indiana.

Qualifications - Required:

  • The ideal candidate will have documented academic PA program teaching experience as a principal program faculty, and five years clinical and/or academic experience as a PA, MD or DO.

 

Qualifications - Preferred:

  • Preference will be given to PA with a doctorate degree.

Program Director


Franklin Pierce University

Position Title: Academic Director, Master of Physician Assistant Studies.

This full-time day program is designed to be completed in 27 calendar months. Students learn hands-on in our facility including classrooms, seminar rooms, a computer lab and a clinical lab where students learn practical skills with state-of-the art training equipment. Clinical experience is conducted at sites throughout the country, with a focus on rural and underserved regions of Vermont and New Hampshire.

Description and Responsibilities:

  • The Director of Physician Assistant Studies is the administrator for all aspects of the program including curriculum, admissions, staffing and student success.
  • Responsibilities in this position will include continuous evaluation and enhancement of the PA program to ensure on-going accreditation, student retention and high success rates on national board exams.
  • The Director will be responsible for all aspects of faculty searches including chairing search committees and making recommendations to the Dean for full-time faculty hires.
  • Additional responsibilities will entail teaching assigned courses, contributing to scholarship, and seeking external funding to support innovations in PA education and practice.
  • The program currently interfaces with the Dartmouth Giesel School of Medicine on interprofessional education initiatives, and utilizes the Giesel cadaver/anatomy lab, as well as the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC) patient safety simulation laboratory.

Qualifications:

  • The successful candidate will be a national certified (NCCPA) physician assistant with a masters degree (doctorate preferred) or a board certified physician.
  • A minimum of three years clinical experience and three years in PA education is expected.
  • This individual must demonstrate the characteristics needed for success in a management/leadership position, and must possess significant knowledge in budget management.

  • Lenoir-Rhyne University seeks applications for a Program Director position in its Master of Physician Assistant Program, currently under development. The program is located on the Universityís Hickory campus. Term (non-tenure track) appointment.
