Northern Arizona University (NAU), a national comprehensive doctoral research institution, is establishing a distinctive Physician Assistant (PA) Department to be based on the Phoenix Biomedical Campus. The new Phoenix Biomedical Campus represents an exciting collaboration in health profession education between NAU and the University of Arizona Colleges of Medicine, Pharmacy, and Public Health. The founding chair will work with NAU leadership to determine the nature and design of the program, hire the faculty and staff, and be responsible for attaining and maintaining accreditation. The first class is expected to matriculate in the fall of 2011.
This is a tenured position at the rank of associate professor or professor for an experienced candidate with a vision for interdisciplinary PA education. Individuals deemed qualified for the position will be graduates of an accredited PA program (master's degree required; PhD preferred) with a minimum of 2 years of PA experience to include clinical practice, administrative or supervisory experience, and clinical research; hold current NCCPA certification and be eligible for licensure in Arizona.
Northern Arizona University is a 23,500-student institution with its main campus in Flagstaff and 33 additional campuses throughout Arizona. The new PA Department will be incorporated into NAU's College of Health and Human Services in conjunction with the School of Nursing and the departments of Communication Sciences Disorders, Dental Hygiene, Health Sciences, Physical Therapy and Athletic Training.

The Charles Drew University (CDU) College of Science and Health (COSH) is currently seeking a director for its physician assistant (PA) program. Nominations and applications are invited for a visionary leader who will develop and implement the master’s degree program in PA Studies. The director will be responsible for the overall administration and management of the PA program and will have oversight of the academic, financial, faculty, student, accreditation, and administrative functions of the program. COSH is one of three academic entities on the CDU campus, which includes a College of Medicine and a School of Nursing. COSH faculty and students will have the opportunity to engage in interdisciplinary collaborative initiatives with medicine and nursing. CDU is the only higher education institution to be dually designated nationally as a Historically Black Graduate Institution (HBGI) and Hispanic Serving Health Professions School. In research dollars, CDU ranks in the top ten percent of more than 3,400 institutions funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and is in the top 50 private research universities.
Responsibilities: The director must build and establish a reputable graduate-level PA program; demonstrate the ability to develop, implement, and evaluate the PA curriculum of study; have a record of promoting excellence in classroom/clinical teaching and research; create an environment of interdisciplinary collaboration; develop and coordinate resources to facilitate faculty scholarly achievement; maintain own program of research as evidenced by publications and external funding; demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with diverse constituencies; participate in outreach efforts to develop and maintain community partnerships; and have experience in the PA education and accreditation process.
Qualifications: Qualified applicants must hold NCCPA certification, be licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of California, and hold an earned doctorate in a related field. The successful candidate will posses a minimum of five years' recent experience as a faculty member in a PA program or three years' administrative experience as an academic program director.

Responsibilities: The program director will provide effective management and supervision of the medical director, faculty, and staff and will report to the chair of the Department of Family Medicine. He/she is responsible for program organization, administration, fiscal management, continuous review and analysis, planning, development, and participation in the ARC-PA re-accreditation process. The program director will also provide oversight and administration of grants and foster effective educational partnerships among the program, other departments within the Keck School of Medicine and the University, and other health care professionals and local/national organizations. Teaching and clinical practice duties for the program director are negotiable.
Requirements: Applicants must hold a doctoral degree and must be a PA (NCCPA-certified) or physician (board certified); California licensure or eligibility is required. A minimum of three years' clinical experience and prior experience in medical education/administration is essential. The successful candidate will have an in-depth understanding of the PA profession, role, practice, and educational process and evidence of scholarship as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills.

The master's degree program admits 56 students annually into its 29-month curriculum. The successful candidate will be responsible for the direction of the master's PA program on the Lexington campus and the extension campus in Morehead, Kentucky, and will work closely with the director of graduate studies in areas of student advising, student recruitment, and evaluation of student performance. The program director will be expected to accomplish scholarship activities appropriate to academic faculty rank, which include research, publication, grant activities, and/or creative/collaborative projects. The opportunity for clinical practice is available and encouraged.
Previous teaching, administrative, and clinical experience is preferred. The George Washington University Medical Faculty Associates (GWU MFA) Department of Emergency Medicine is proud to announce a collaborative effort with the Prince Sultan Military College of Health Sciences in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to develop the first Physician Assistant (PA) program in the Middle East (referred to in Saudi Arabia as the 'Assistant Physician' (AP) program).
This AP program will produce skilled health care professionals to serve within the Saudi Arabian military and civilian communities. The program is based on widely recognized PA education models and the current standards of PA education in the United States. The first cohort of 40 students will begin in September 2010.
The GWU MFA has developed fully-funded, sabbatical opportunities to allow PA faculty to assume key roles as international educators while maintaining their academic positions within their own institutions. We are currently recruiting qualified faculty for direct employment with GWU MFA, or through the sabbatical program, for several faculty positions including academic coordinator (full-time position or sabbatical opportunity in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia). The Salus University (SU) Physician Assistant (PA) Program, is seeking a knowledgeable, experienced, collaborative, and visionary PA to serve as academic coordinator.
The academic coordinator will work with the program director, faculty, and staff to coordinate the didactic portion of the PA program in accordance with ARC-PA Standards. In addition, this position is eligible for a joint appointment in the University’s new online Master of Public Health program, which will begin the fall of 2010.
The academic coordinator will be a full-time core faculty member and as such will participate in admissions, student teaching/evaluation/remediation, program evaluation/accreditation, and other activities required by the University and ARC-PA Standards.
Minimal required qualifications for this position include: graduation from an accredited PA program; current NCCPA certification with current licensure (or eligibility) in Pennsylvania; minimum two years’ PA clinical experience; and excellent oral, written, and computer skills. An MPH is highly desirable to assist with the development and coordination of the joint PA-MPH program. This position is eligible for either a tenure or non-tenure track appointment.
The PA program was established in 2007 and is designed with a strong emphasis on primary care medicine. The University offers a unique opportunity for interdisciplinary education and cooperation with the other clinical programs. Most recently, SU received approval for a Master of Public Health program, which will start this fall, and there are plans to offer an integrated PA/MPH in the not too distant future. Western University of Health Sciences is searching for a clinical education coordinator who will be granted an academic appointment as an instructor or assistant professor in the Master of Science Physician Assistant (PA) Program. In conjunction with the other clinical coordinators, the individual will have responsibilities to procure, develop, coordinate, and maintain clinical rotation sites for PA students. This position will require travel to clinical sites up to a 60-mile radius of the university. There may be infrequent out-of-area travel requirements. The faculty member will have additional responsibilities for classroom teaching, participating in testing, and mentoring PA students. He/she will also be actively involved with scholarly activity, professional development, student advising, curriculum review, faculty meetings, and College and University committees.
Western University of Health Sciences, located in Southern California, is a relatively small-sized graduate medical campus located in Pomona, approximately 40 miles east of Los Angeles. Favorable weather conditions allow for numerous outdoor activities at the beach, mountains, and deserts — all within one hour of travel from the local area.
The successful candidate must be a graduate of an ARC-PA accredited PA program. We prefer a minimum of a master's degree (bachelor's degree candidates may be considered under special circumstances), and a minimum of two years of full-time clinical experience as a PA. Our faculty is growing with a new position for a supervised clinical practice coordinator! The Physician Assistant (PA) program at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, ranked 8th nationally of PA programs across the United States by the US News and World Report, is seeking applications for a this faculty position. Job Responsibilities: This full-time position is a member of the teaching faculty of the PA program. Duties may include, but are not limited, to clinical site recruitment, assignment of clinical rotations, teaching and advising, as well as scholarship activities.
Qualifications: This position requires NCCPA certification, three years of clinical experience, and a master’s degree. Excellent oral and written communication skills and computer ability are required. Preferred qualifications include clinical and didactic teaching experience.

Clarkson University is seeking a director of didactic education (academic coordinator) and a director of clinical education (clinical coordinator) for its developing Master of Physician Assistant (PA) Studies program. The responsibilities of these positions fall along the standard lines with the addition of building the framework of the program, preparing for ARC-PA accreditation, and meeting New York State Regents’ requirements. Position-specific standards may be found in the position listing.
The successful PA applicant will hold a master’s degree in a health related discipline with a doctorate preferred. Experience in PA education is highly valued. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are vital. A collegial attitude is a must. These positions will be at the assistant or associate professor level and may be tenure or clinical track and will remain open until filled, with September 2010 being the desired start date. Another position for an assistant professor will open later this fall.

The Marywood University Department of Physician Assistant (PA) Studies seeks a clinical faculty member for a non-tenure track appointment beginning fall 2010 or shortly thereafter. Qualified candidates will possess a master of science degree in PA studies with NCCPA certification, licensed as PA, and valid driver's license. Preference will be given to candidates with two years' clinical experience, research, scholarship, and teaching experience.
Responsibilities include: Teach courses in areas of expertise; establish and maintain clinical sites for student rotations; participate in clinical assessment evaluation, skills instruction, and evaluation; assist with academic advisement; assist in interviewing and PA student selection process; serve on thesis and dissertation committees; participate and promote scholarship and university service.
