The Physician Assistant Education Association (PAEA) invites applications from among the PA education community for the new position of Director, Professional Affairs and Education.
This new position was created specifically for a PA educator. At this exciting time in PAEA's evolution, a PA educator will be uniquely qualified to contribute to the strategic directions of the Association and the profession. The director will make strategic contributions to PAEA's activities at the national level through his or her experience and first-hand knowledge of the membership, PA education, and the health professions.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide strategic oversight for PAEA's research activities
- Oversee/serve as managing editor of the Journal of Physician Assistant Education
- Serve as staff advisor to PAEA's Faculty Development Institute, implementing FDI initiatives directed at the development and retention of PA educators
- Oversee PAEA functions relating to students and applicants (including assessment, evaluation, and CASPA)
- Identify and draft education policy for board and membership consideration
- Work with the executive director and other members of management staff to ensure that PAEA's internal and external operations are efficient and effective in advancing the strategic directions of the Association
- Represent PAEA to external stakeholders and other organizations of strategic importance
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience as a PA faculty member
- Master's degree
- Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills
- A strong scholarly record, including journal publication
- Understanding of research principles as they apply to workforce, curriculum, management, and other areas of health education
- Knowledge of health professions education and/or faculty development
- Ability to innovate, with strong problem-solving skills
- Evidence-based decision making
- Ability to juggle varied tasks, working within a team environment
- Management and supervisory experience
- Ability to travel and work weekends as necessary

The director is responsible for the overall administration and management of the career ladder program that includes the certificate and bachelor's degree program. The director will also develop the planned master's degree program. Typical duties include development and review of the educational effectiveness of the program, ability to teach courses and maintain program accreditation with the ARC-PA and the Physician Assistant (PA) Committee of the Medical Board of California. Requirements:

University of the Cumberlands is seeking a clinical coordinator. Minimum requirements for the position include a minimum of three years of clinical practice as a physician assistant (PA), eligibility for unrestricted licensure to practice in Kentucky, and current certification by the NCCPA. Previous teaching experience is desirable, but not required. Full-time faculty are expected to maintain practice skills and are given .2 FTE weekly to engage in clinical practice. Academic rank and salary are commensurate with level of education, as well as professional and academic experience.

The clinical coordinator will primarily be responsible for the clinical portion of the PA curriculum with opportunities to advise students and provide expertise in other areas of PA education. This is a 12-month tenure track faculty position that involves a combination of clinical coordinator responsibilities, scholarly activity, and opportunities for clinical practice.
Qualifications include possession of a master's degree or related discipline (doctorate preferred) and at least two years of professional clinical practice experience. Experience in PA education and previous experience with the coordination of graduate-level health care students are preferred. Graduation from an accredited graduate-level health care program, current professional practice certification, and eligibility for registration/licensure in the state of Ohio are required.
