FDI Offerings
New Program Director's Retreat
The Faculty Development Institute (FDI) will offer a five-day retreat for New Program Directors in Leesburg, Virginia on July 12-16. This five-day retreat will include a combination of didactic lectures, small group activities, and interactive workshops designed to provide participants with a toolbox of resources to build the foundational skills program directors and associate directors need to be successful. This unique opportunity is designed to prepare participants for their new roles in program leadership. This retreat is only offered once a year and a workshop for new program directors will not be offered in Seattle this year. Don’t let this opportunity slip away. Questions regarding registration and eligibility can be sent to Sheryl Vermont, manager, meetings, svermont@PAEAonline.org.

FDI is restructuring their offerings to meet the ongoing faculty development needs of PAEA members. To eliminate confusion and distinct their products from other PAEA presentations, the traditional "Add-On Workshops" will now be called Certificate Programs (CPs). These CPs will offer the same high level training and skill building that they are known for. At the end of the CP, each attendee will receive a certificate of completion and participation.
In Seattle and in conjunction with the 2012 PAEA Annual Education Forum, six CP’s will be offered. Registration opens in July. Questions regarding these and other FDI offerings can be sent to Sheryl Vermont, manager, meetings, svermont@PAEAonline.org.

Thank you to the 52 PAEA member faculty who attended our recent Faculty Development Institute Workshops: Basic Skills Faculty Development and Clinical Coordinators Workshop – Survival 101. Nineteen members attended the Clinical Coordinators workshop and 33 attended the Basic Skills workshop, which was held in two sessions except for the second day, which was a joint session. Laura Stuetzer, associate director, Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) was a special guest and stopped into each workshop to speak to attendees. The workshops were held at the Hotel Monaco in Alexandria, VA, March 23-24.
