Moves and Milestones

Maine Governor Baldacci Recognizes University of New England PA Program for PA Week
Joining Maine Governor John Baldacci (center) in his office at the capitol building in Augusta, are, from left to right: UNE PA Professor Lisa Southwick, UNE PA students Lindsey Jones and Heather Lawler, former president of the DownEast Association of PAs Greg Christensen, and UNE PA student Shawn Stepp.

In recognition of National Physician Assistant (PA) Week, Maine Governor John Baldacci presented a proclamation honoring the University of New England (UNE) PA program to students, faculty, and a representative of the DownEast Association of PAs.

PAs play an important role in Maine’s health care and UNE is the only PA program in the state.

During the week of October 6 to 12, PAs across the United States celebrate National PA Week, and scenes like this are likely to be playing out in many states as PA programs receive the recognition of local and national leaders. PA students in particular typically engage in activities during the first week of October that benefit the residents of their local communities.

Do you have news you'd like to share with other faculty members?

PAEA Networker's Moves and Milestones column is designed to help keep members informed about their colleagues’ activities. The column features information on faculty moves and promotions and on significant changes and achievements at member programs. Examples are faculty moving to new positions within the program or elsewhere, grants received, articles or books published, a new track or satellite campus established. We also welcome curricular innovations that may not have the research basis for peer-reviewed publication but that would be of anecdotal interest to PA faculty.

If you have news you would like to share, please send it to Eileen Evans, PAEA Networker managing editor, at eevans@PAEAonline.org; (703) 548-5538, ext. 307. News must be received by the 20th of the month for inclusion in the following month’s issue.
