NCCPA Receives the 2007 Georgia Oglethorpe Award

The National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) recently informed PAEA and its other stakeholder organizations of its selection as the 2007 Georgia Oglethorpe Award winner for performance excellence. NCCPA is the first Georgia non-profit and the first organization with a health care focus to win the award. Seventy-six organizations submitted applications, and NCCPA is only the 13th organization to receive the award in 10 years.

According to Janet Lathrop, NCCPA's president and CEO, the organization was most proud of the examiners' finding that NCCPA’s customer focus was a catalyst for its success. The Oglethorpe Board of Examiners stated: “Commitment to customer satisfaction is pervasive and systematic through the organizational processes … In this manner, the organization can meet and exceed its goal of being responsive, innovative and effective in addressing the interests of the public and other stakeholders.”

Lathrop credited NCCPA's receipt of this award in large part to a continuous focus on quality and excellence. She added: "While receiving this recognition was a great validation of our efforts, we recognize that there is always room to improve, and excellence is truly the pursuit of small wins at every opportunity."
