Research Institute Seeks Members for Advisory Committee and for Subcommittee Positions

The PAEA Research Institute (RI) is seeking applications for two vacancies on its advisory committee. The committee is responsible for advising the RI chair and PAEA Board of Directors concerning research issues, and each member is responsible for implementing various tasks of the RI and for chairing at least one institute subcommittee.

Additional responsibilities include attendance at RI Advisory Committee meetings at the PAEA Annual Education Forum and one possible weekend strategy meeting each winter, as well as participation in e-mail communications and telephone conference calls, as needed. Applicants for these positions should have served on an RI subcommittee. It is desirable that applicants’ accomplishments include a record of successful authorship of published manuscripts, service as peer reviewers for journals and the PAEA Student Writing Competition, or substantial experience working with PA students who write manuscripts.

Call for RI Subcommittee Members

The PAEA Research Institute is seeking applications to fill two vacancies on separate grant subcommittees. Members are responsible for assisting the subcommittee chairs with activities related to specific grant programs. The work of the subcommittees typically occurs over a few months in recurring annual cycles.

No prior PAEA committee service is required for these positions; however, priority will be given to applicants who demonstrate a history of authoring publications, peer review activity, experience as a reviewer for the PAEA Student Writing Competition, and other scholarly activity.

Terms

• Terms for all member positions are for two years with the possibility for reappointment.
• All terms are renewable once, based upon the recommendation of the institute chair to the board of directors.

Funding

• Meetings held in conjunction with the PAEA Annual Education Forum and Semiannual Meeting (with just a couple of exceptions) are not funded.
• Meetings held outside of the PAEA Annual Education Forum and Semiannual Meeting are funded for travel, lodging, and meals.

General Requirements

• Members actively contribute to carrying out the standing charges and/or mission of the specified group.
• Members agree to participate in scheduled conference calls and face-to-face meetings. (In addition to the conference calls, committees may meet once a year besides those meetings held in conjunction with annual meetings).
• Members meet agreed-upon deadlines for assignments.
• Members are expected to function well as team players.
