Annual PAEA Committee Vacancies
PAEA is inviting applications to fill anticipated openings on several of its committees. Terms for newly appointed members will begin January 1, 2008.
The specific positions and required qualifications for each are accessible from the links in the left-hand column. General information common to all committees is provided below. PAEA members may apply for any number of posted positions. Note that the application deadline for all positions is Friday, September 14.

CASPA Advisory Committee
The advisory committee provides oversight for the ongoing development and maintenance of the Association’s central application service, directs communication about and evaluation of the service, and manages its products and services.

Committee on Ethnic and Cultural Diversity
The committee promotes the recruitment and retention of ethnically and culturally diverse faculty and students; advocates for the underrepresented and/or economically disadvantaged; and serves as mentors and role models in education, the profession, and the community.

The committee promotes the education, professional development, and networking of PA program faculty during PAEA’s annual meeting sessions and presentations.

Finance Committee
The committee monitors PAEA’s finances, prepares an annual budget, and makes related recommendations to the board to ensure the growth and stability of PAEA’s revenue base.

Governance Committee
The committee overseas the governance structure of the Association, including membership, voting representation, policies and procedures, and bylaws and makes recommendations to improve the effectiveness of PAEA's governance.

The committee provides expertise regarding PA education to international constituencies and serves as a source of information for PAEA member programs on clinical education outside the United States.

The committee identifies and solicits qualified candidates to serve on the PAEA Board of Directors and selects award recipients based on established criteria.

PACKRAT
PAEA's test item writing committee has the ongoing responsibility for submitting, constructing, reviewing questions for the Physician Assistant Clinical Knowledge Rating and Assessment Tool (PACKRAT).

Parliamentarian
The parliamentarian will advise the president on parliamentary procedure at the Association’s annual business meeting and serve as an ex officio member of the Governance Committee throughout the year.

Terms
- Terms for all member positions are for two years (and three for chairs). Terms run from January 1, 2008, to December 31, 2009 (December 31, 2010, for chairs), with the possibility for reappointment.
- All terms are renewable once, based upon the recommendation of the chair of the committee or institute to the board of directors. Renewal of terms for chairs is made upon the recommendation of the PAEA Board of Directors.
- Members in good standing will be invited by their chairs to remain on the committee at the end of their first terms and need not reapply.
Funding
- Meetings held in conjunction with the PAEA Annual Education Forum and the AAPA Annual Conference are not funded.
- Members are reimbursed for their travel, lodging, and meals for meetings held outside of PAEA’s annual meetings.
Requirements
- Members actively contribute to carrying out the charges of the group.
- Members agree to participate in scheduled conference calls and in- person meetings. (In addition to the conference calls, committees may meet once a year besides those meetings held in conjunction with annual meetings).
- Members meet agreed-upon deadlines for assignments.
- Members are expected to function well as team players.
