PROGRAM DIRECTOR The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse–Gundersen Lutheran–Mayo Physician Assistant Program is seeking a dynamic assistant/associate professor (tenure-track) or assistant/associate clinical professor (non-tenure-track), based on credentials, to lead a multi-faceted, collaborative physician assistant faculty. This is a 12-month position in an established program that enjoys a history of small class sizes and 100% PANCE pass rates, with scores consistently in the top 10 percent nationally. The Physician Assistant Master’s Degree Program consists of four core faculty members, with instruction delivered and supplemented by local and regional experts from the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center and the Mayo Foundation. The Department of Health Professions is located in a $27 million state-of-the-art health science center (HSC), which also houses six associate health professional programs. The HSC was built by the La Crosse Medical Health Science Consortium, a collaborative entity of five La Crosse organizations: UW-L, Viterbo University, Western Wisconsin Technical College, Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, and Franciscan Skemp Health Care–Mayo Health System. The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, founded in 1909, is one of 13 four-year campuses in the University of Wisconsin system. ACADEMIC AND CLINICAL COORDINATOR The Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO), the future Pennsylvania University of Health Sciences,* is establishing a distinctive physician assistant (PA) program to be based at its Elkins Park campus in suburban Philadelphia. The first class is expected to matriculate in fall 2007. Since its establishment in 1919, PCO has been known for its legendary vision in optometric education. Over the last 20 years, that vision has led to the establishment of other health and rehabilitation programs including graduate degrees and certificates in vision impairment, a Master of Science in Clinical Optometry for international ophthalmic practitioners, and a distance education and residential Doctor of Audiology degree. Academic Coordinator The college is seeking a knowledgeable, experienced, and collaborative PA to serve as academic coordinator for this exciting new endeavor. The academic coordinator will work with the program director, clinical coordinator, PA faculty and staff, and PCO basic science and clinical science faculty to further develop, initiate, and coordinate primarily the didactic portion of the PA program, in accordance with ARC-PA Standards. The academic coordinator will be a full-time core faculty member and as such will participate in admissions, student teaching, evaluation, remediation, program evaluation/accreditation, and other activities required by ARC-PA Standards. Minimal required qualifications for this position include: graduation from an accredited PA program, current NCCPA certification with current licensure (or eligibility) in Pennsylvania, a minimum of two years’ PA clinical experience, and excellent oral, written, and computer skills. Tenure track or clinical faculty appointments are both available. The clinical coordinator will work with the program director, academic coordinator, PA faculty and staff, and PCO clinical science faculty to recruit and develop clinical rotation sites and ensure that the clinical learning environment demonstrates qualities needed to provide a superior clinical education, in accordance with ARC-PA Standards. The clinical coordinator will be a core faculty member and as such will participate in admissions, student teaching, evaluation, remediation, program evaluation/accreditation, and other activities as required by ARC-PA Standards. CLINICAL COORDINATOR DeSales University invites applications for a full-time faculty member to serve as a clinical coordinator in the physician assistant program. Please send letter of application, CV, three letters of recommendation, and photocopies of transcripts September 15, 2006 to: Dr. Robert Blumenstein EOE DeSales University is a Catholic, liberal arts institution on a beautiful 350-acre campus in the Lehigh Valley of eastern Pennsylvania, approximately one hour from Philadelphia and two hours from New York City. The Department of Physician Assistant Studies at Idaho State University (ISU) is seeking two physician assistant faculty members for its program expansion to Boise, Idaho. The positions are full-time, tenure or clinical track, and include the university’s benefit package. One day per week is allowed for clinical practice, with earnings kept by the faculty member. The ISU PA program began in 1995 and will graduate its 10th class in 2007. The program became a master’s level program in 2003. The satellite in Boise will open in August 2007, pending final approval by the ARC-PA. The faculty hired for these two positions will assist the program director in developing and implementing the Boise satellite program. Twenty students will be accepted each year in Boise and 30 in Pocatello. Please send inquiries and resumes to: Dave Martin, MPAS, PA-C FACULTY POSITION (RESEARCH COORDINATOR) Mercy College Graduate Program in Physician Assistant Studies invites applications for a faculty position to teach and coordinate our research curriculum. This faculty member teaches two research methods courses and oversees an on-going, community-based project. Besides teaching, responsibilities include development of this project including its yearly focus, obtaining research sites, and obtaining IRB approval. The Mercy College program began in 1999 as a dual degree program and is the first graduate degree-granting program in New York. The curriculum is based on the biopsychosocial model of medical education and reflects an emphasis on public health and community based medicine. Classes do not exceed 40 students. The program is located on the newly renovated Bronx campus. The physician assistant program is a member of the Division of Health Professions, which includes graduate programs in physical therapy, occupational therapy, nursing, and communication disorders. Successful applicants must possess current NCCPA certification and hold a master’s of public health or equivalent.
