Motions Are Due in National Office by September 13 for 2006 Business MeetingThe Annual Business Meeting held each year at the PAEA Annual Education Forum provides an opportunity for PAEA members to bring motions before the membership, with a view to having the Association adopt a new policy or take formal action on an issue. Motions may be submitted by any PAEA member. The business meeting is scheduled for Saturday, October 28, 2006, from 4:15 to 6:00 p.m. Although program directors cast one vote on behalf of their programs, all PAEA member faculty in attendance at the Education Forum are encouraged to attend the business meeting and speak to the issues under consideration before the final votes are cast. PA educators are encouraged to discuss issues of national concern, as well as the candidates for office, in their own programs so that that voting representatives may consider the opinions of their faculty before casting their votes. Motions must be submitted at least 45 days — by September 13 — before the business meeting, in order to be automatically considered at the business meeting. Motions that are not received by this date or that are raised on the floor of the business meeting are subject to a two-thirds majority vote of those present at the business meeting to be considered. To download a motion form, go to http://www.paeaonline.org/governance/PAEAMotionForm.doc. Motions must be entered electronically in the text box on the form and sent to Eileen Evans at eevans@PAEAonline.org by the deadline. If you have questions, please contact Ms. Evans at (703) 548-5538, ext. 307; or Governance Committee Chair Walter Eisenhauer at (570) 893-2168 or weisenha@lhup.edu. The new PAEA Governance Committee has instituted some revisions to the motion review system, in which the PAEA consortia played a central role. Information on the revised process will be disseminated in the next issue of PAEA Networker and via e-mail. The track comprises five sessions intended to equip the participant with the basic knowledge to design and implement a survey research project.
