  • To promote and support the admission of minority students to health professions schools

  • To enhance the retention and graduation of minority students in health professions schools

  • To facilitate access to postgraduate training programs for minority health professions students

  • To promote the recruitment and development of minority faculty administrators and managerial personnel in the health professions

  • To support and promote the delivery of quality health care for minority populations

  • To promote the recruitment, retention, and development of minority students in pre-health professions programs

  • To promote the philosophy of equal educational opportunity and to stimulate, promote, and conduct systematic studies and research conferences and other related activities as are desirable or necessary for fulfilling the purpose of the organization.

Preference will be given to individuals who are familiar with issues important to minority health care providers.

The liaison reports to the board in October. He or she also attends the NAMME Annual Fall Conference, which is funded for the liaison’s registration and exhibit costs, travel, food, and lodging. Attendance at the NAMME regional conference may also be allowed if funds are available.

The term for this position is for two years, from October 2006 to October 2008, with the possibility of reappointment once, based on the recommendation of the PAEA president in consultation with the board of directors.
