PROGRAM DIRECTOR
University of Wisconsin LaCrosse

The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse–Gundersen Lutheran–Mayo (UW-L) Physician Assistant Program is seeking a dynamic assistant/associate professor (tenure-track) or assistant/associate clinical professor (non-tenure-track), based on credentials, to lead a multi-faceted, collaborative PA program faculty. This is a 9-month position in an established program that enjoys a history of small class sizes and 100% PANCE pass rates, with scores consistently in the top 10 percent nationally. The physician assistant master’s degree program consists of four core faculty members, with instruction also delivered and supplemented by local and regional experts from the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center and The Mayo Foundation.

The PA program is part of the UW-L Department of Health Professions. All programs in the Department of Health Professions, College of Science and Allied Health (SAH), are fully accredited. The Department of Health Professions is located in a $27 million state-of-the-art health science center, which also houses six associate health professional programs. The health science center was built by the La Crosse Medical Health Science Consortium, a collaborative entity of five La Crosse organizations: UW-L, Viterbo University, Western Wisconsin Technical College, Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, and Franciscan Skemp Health Care–Mayo Health System.

UW-L, founded in 1909, is one of 13 four-year campuses in the University of Wisconsin system. It offers approximately 80 majors, minors, and special programs for undergraduates in business, education, the sciences, the arts, health science, recreation, physical education, and liberal studies. Twenty-one graduate programs are available. About 9,300 students attend classes on the compact, 119-acre campus.

La Crosse (pop. 52,000) is set among scenic bluffs along the winding Mississippi River on the Minnesota/Wisconsin border. Located approximately 2 ½ hours from Minneapolis to the northwest and Madison, Wisconsin, to the southeast, La Crosse enjoys small-town charm with larger city benefits. Densely-wooded coulees, three rivers, and lush marshland provide prime locales for many outdoor pursuits. In addition to UW-L, La Crosse is home to Viterbo University and Western Wisconsin Technical College.

Requirements: Minimum of master’s degree in related field; a doctoral degree is preferred (MD, DO, or PhD); current national certification as a physician assistant or licensed physician; established history of teaching; proven leadership skills; good communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills; fiscal and organizational experience; evidence of a progressive, collaborative management style; and willingness to participate in a multi-institutional program.
