Join PAEA's Committees

PAEA is inviting applications to fill openings on several committees.

Specifics and required qualifications for each opening are accessible from the links in the left-hand column. Information common to all committees is provided below. PAEA members may apply for any number of positions on the following committees.

If the committee or institute in which you are interested is not announcing an opening at present, please continue to check in upcoming isses of the Networker.

Committee

Standing Charge or Mission

CASPA Advisory Committee

The CASPA Advisory Committee shall provide oversight for the maintenance and enhancement of the CASPA service.

 

Committee on Ethnic and Cultural Diversity

 

The Committee on Ethnic and Cultural Diversity shall promote the recruitment and retention of ethnically and culturally diverse faculty and students; advocate for underrepresented and/or economically disadvantaged; and serve as mentors and role models in education, the profession, and the community.

 

Education Committee

The Education Committee shall promote the education, professional development, and networking of PA program faculty during PAEA ’s annual meeting sessions and presentations.

Research Institute The mission of the PAEA Research Institute is to foster research and scholarly activities within the Physician Assistant Education Association. This will be accomplished by advising and making recommendations to the PAEA board for the coordination and oversight of research-related activities.

Terms

  • Terms for all member positions are for two years (three years for chairs), and run from November 1, 2006, to October 31, 2008 (October 31, 2009, for chairs), with the possibility for reappointment.
  • All terms are renewable once, based upon the recommendation of the chair of the committee or institute to the board of directors.
  • Members in good standing will be invited by their chairs to remain on the committee at the end of their first terms and need not reapply.

Funding

  • Meetings held in conjunction with the PAEA Annual Education Forum and Semiannual Meeting (with just a couple of exceptions) are not funded.
  • Meetings held outside of the PAEA Annual Education Forum and Semiannual Meeting are funded for travel, lodging, and meals.

Requirements

  • Members actively contribute to carrying out the standing charges and/or mission of the specified group.
  • Members agree to participate in scheduled conference calls and face-to-face meetings. (In addition to the conference calls, committees may meet once a year besides those meetings held in conjunction with annual meetings).
  • Members meet agreed-upon deadlines for assignments.
  • Members are expected to function well as team players.
