PROGRAM DIRECTOR
George Washington University, District of Columbia

The PA program in the School of Medicine and Health Sciences of the George Washington (GW) University is seeking applications for the position of program director. Located in the heart of Washington, DC, the GW PA program, founded in 1972, is among the leading programs in the nation. The program is a vital component of the GW University Medical Center and draws from the rich resources of a growing academic health center. Responsibilities: This position is for an innovative and dedicated individual to oversee all aspects of the program. PROGRAM DIRECTOR

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR

The Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS) has opened an exciting and unique opportunity at its Worcester, Massachusetts, campus for the position of assistant director of the physician assistant Worcester program, a branch of the physician assistant Manchester, New Hampshire, campus program. This position is an excellent opportunity for an emerging leader to provide oversight of the development of the Worcester branch campus through its formative stages prior to implementation in January 2008 and pending ARC-PA approval. The position will require the majority of work to be completed at the Worcester campus.

The assistant director will report to the PA Studies-Manchester program director in providing leadership and effective administration of the Worcester branch campus PA program. This includes oversight for the academic and clinical functions of the Worcester branch campus, ongoing programmatic analysis and review, and service on program committees. This role also includes involvement in admission, retention and recruitment, and various responsibilities as delegated by the program director. Other functions include service on college-wide committees and classroom teaching.

In consultation with the PA Studies program director, all faculty members teach across all courses and coordinate didactic courses in the PA Studies curriculum. Responsibilities include engaging in teaching, scholarship, and service activities; participating in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the curriculum; participating in the development, initiation, and incorporation of instructional experiences; developing individualized learning objectives; recruiting qualified applicants; providing supervision and counsel to students; developing competencies required for the successful completion of board examinations; serving as small-group facilitator; and other duties, as requested. Candidates should have interests in learning-centered graduate education, in engaging students to share in their responsibility for learning, in educating and promoting future PAs, and in working well as an integrated team member. The PA program at Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO) — the future Pennsylvania University of the Health Sciences — is seeking two clinically experienced and team oriented PAs to become full-time core faculty members in our developing program. Responsibilities include participation in admissions, student teaching/evaluation/ remediation, program evaluation/accreditation, clinical site visits, and other program activities.

Both tenure track or clinical faculty appointments are available. Minimal qualifications include graduation from an accredited PA program, current NCCPA certification with current licensure (or eligibility) in Pennsylvania, a minimum of two years PA clinical experience, and excellent oral, written, organizational, and computer skills.
