New Coordinator for Applicant and Student Services Becomes PAEA's Ninth Staff Member

Ayeshia Ellington, the ninth staff member to join the Association, came on board this week as its coordinator for applicant and student services. She will manage applicant and student affairs related to Pi Alpha, PACKRAT, and CASPA and serve as staff advisor to the committees responsible for those activities. She will also become the primary staff contact for the PAEA Student Writing Competition.

Ellington hails from Ohio and earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Ohio State University. Her baccalaureate is in English and her master's in public administration, with a specialty in public health. She was on the yearbook staff in high school and, during college, was published in Cleveland Life, a community magazine. She also interned at INROADS, where she assisted minority students to locate internships in corporate America.

Ellington came to northern Virginia from a position at the Health Policy Institute of Ohio in Columbus, where as planning coordinator, she was responsible for editing reports, planning meetings, and managing workgroups related to health information, security, and privacy.

While in Ohio, Ellington volunteered in church activities, including young adult missions. She enjoys working with children and teens and looks forward to volunteering locally to help young people achieve their goals — this, while also planning an August wedding.

Most PAEA members will not have the opportunity to meet Ellington in person before the Annual Education Forum. In the meantime, with her background in English, public administration, and health, she will be busy integrating her talents into several essential functions within PAEA. She will soon be up and ready to address any issues members may have related to Pi Alpha, PACKRAT, CASPA, and student writing.
