Awards Ceremony to Be Held for Winners of Student Writing Competition at PA ConferencePAEA to Maintain A Limited Schedule in San AntonioAn Awards Ceremony will be held at the PA conference in San Antonio to honor the three students who are selected as the winners of the PAEA Student Writing Competition. They will present brief presentations of their entries to PA faculty and peers as part of the Students Professional Workshops. This event, at which the students will also receive monetary prizes, will take place on Monday, May 26, in the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, room 206, from 11:00 to 11:50, a.m. Our members, many of whom so generously provided initial reviews for the student submissions, are encouraged to continue their support of the students by attending this event. Otherwise, PAEA’s presence at the annual conference will be minimal. The Association will not be offering its traditional educational sessions at this year’s annual conference — contrary to what was listed in the preliminary program. An insufficient number of proposals were received for these sessions, and the board of directors decided to cancel the sessions for this year. This decision is in line with the Association’s increasing focus on its fall Annual Education Forum as the primary meeting dedicated to PA educational issues and PA educators. Canceling the sessions will also allow the many PA educators who attend the AAPA meeting wearing multiple “hats” to devote their full attention to House of Delegates, alumni, student, and clinical activities. The PAEA president will continue to present at the House of Delegates, the Academy’s board meeting, the AOR, and other important events at the conference. PA programs will continue to hold their alumni receptions during the Academy meetings. And PAEA and AAPA will continue to work together on issues important to the PA profession.
