PROGRAM DIRECTOR
University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center

The Child Health Associate/Physician Assistant Program (CHA/PA program) invites applications for program director with a full-time faculty position in the Department of Pediatrics. Appointment will be at a level appropriate to the experience of the applicant.

This three-year academic program has an outstanding reputation including award winning curricula in problem-based learning, disabilities, and evidence-based medicine. Duties will include, but not be limited to, responsibility for the organization, administration, continuous review and analysis, planning, and ongoing development of the program. The director will supervise faculty and staff and will participate in small group teaching, clinical precepting, evaluation of student progress, and other duties within the CHA/PA program. The director represents the program as a section head within the Department of Pediatrics and reports directly to the chair.

This position requires either

1. NCCPA certification and three years of clinical experience. A doctoral degree in a relevant area is preferred; or

2. An MD/DO degree with board certification in pediatrics.

PROGRAM DIRECTOR

The PA program in the School of Medicine and Health Sciences of the George Washington (GW) University is seeking applications for the position of program director. CLINICAL COORDINATOR

This is a 12-month faculty position beginning in late spring 2007. Primary responsibilities will be to oversee, maintain, continue the development of and perform outcome analysis on electronic student logging and clinical evaluations. The Nova Southeastern University (NSU) PA program-Naples is now accepting applications for three full-time faculty. These are 12-month positions, with a start date of June 2007.

The NSU PA program matriculated its first class in 2005 and will be graduating that class in August 2007. The program is 27 months in length and enrolls approximately 50 students each year.

The Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS) has opened an exciting and unique opportunity at its Manchester, New Hampshire, campus for an innovative educator to serve as a full-time faculty member with the PA Studies Program.

This individual will participate in teaching and coordinating across all didactic courses in the PA Studies curriculum. Responsibilities include engaging in teaching, scholarship, and service activities; participating in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the curriculum; participating in the development of learning experiences, developing learning objectives; recruiting qualified applicants; providing supervision and advising to students; serving as small-group facilitator; and other duties as requested. Candidates should have an interest in learner-centered graduate education, in engaging students to share in their responsibility for learning, in educating and promoting future PAs, and in working well as integrated team members. Faculty are able to work one day weekly in a clinical position. Faculty rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Teaching courses in area(s) of expertise, as assigned
  • Establishing a personal program of scholarly activity
  • Performing service activities that advance the program and the profession, including assisting in the recruitment, orientation, and retention of students; participating in clinical site visits; and assessing clinical education for continuous quality improvement

Minimum qualifications include NCCPA certification, eligibility for New Hampshire license, and a minimum of three years' full-time PA clinical practice experience. A graduate degree in PA studies or a related field is strongly preferred. Consideration will be given to applicants in the process of completing a master's degree and who have prior teaching experience. Preferred qualifications include: an earned doctoral degree or progress toward a doctoral degree; prior experience in PA education; prior experience with curriculum development; experience using technology to enhance learning; demonstrated excellent communication, time management, and organization skills; ability to work independently and as a team member; and commitment to maintaining high professional standards.

FACULTY POSITION

The King’s College Department of PA Studies seeks a full-time, non-tenure track faculty member for its Master of Science in PA Studies Program. The PA program has been continuously accredited since 1977 and has graduated over 800 PAs, with its first master’s degree recipients in 2002. This 12-month faculty position begins July 1, 2007. The applicant must be a PA who is NCCPA certified with a minimum of 2 years’ clinical experience and have or will complete a master’s degree within one year of hire. Prior experience in an academic setting is preferred. FACULTY POSITION
Lock Haven University, Pennsylvania

The university invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in the PA program at the rank of instructor or assistant professor. The position will begin in the summer 2007. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Classroom teaching in a distance education environment at the Clearfield branch campus and at the Lock Haven University (LHU) main campus

Pennsylvania College of Optometry

The PA program at Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO) — the future Pennsylvania University of the Health Sciences — is seeking two clinically experienced and team oriented PAs to become full-time core faculty members in our developing program. Responsibilities include participation in admissions, student teaching/evaluation/ remediation, program evaluation/accreditation, clinical site visits, and other program activities.

Both tenure track or clinical faculty appointments are available. Minimal qualifications include graduation from an accredited PA program, current NCCPA certification with current licensure (or eligibility) in Pennsylvania, a minimum of two years PA clinical experience, and excellent oral, written, organizational, and computer skills. Preference is given to candidates with a master’s or doctoral degree and previous teaching and administrative skills, but all interested individuals are encouraged to apply.

Our state-of-the art academic, research, and student facilities are located on a beautifully landscaped campus in Elkins Park, a suburb outside the city of Philadelphia. The PA program at PCO has received its ARC-PA provisional accreditation. The PA program will be housed within a new College of Health Professions.
