Web Article Features OU–Tulsa PA Students to Illustrate Spiraling Interest in Health Care Fields

NewsON6.com recently ran an article, Interest Booming in Health Care Fields, portraying the high interest in becoming PAs at the University of Oklahoma–Tulsa (OU–Tulsa), particularly among second-career students. The piece quoted students expressing comfort about choosing health care, especially in the current uncertain economic climate, and confidence that their choice will ensure bright futures for them.

OU–Tulsa administrators have the numbers to back up the students' comfort level. More than 170 applications were received for 24 available seats in the upcoming school year. Cynthia Pentz, program director at the OU–Tulsa PA Program, said, "I think that the majority of applicants…know that the health profession is a very solid field. We're always going to need health care. Especially we need health care people in Oklahoma."

Do you have news you'd like to share with other faculty members?

PAEA Networker's Moves and Milestones column is designed to help keep members informed about their colleagues’ activities. The column features information on faculty moves and promotions and on significant changes and achievements at member programs. Examples are faculty moving to new positions within the program or elsewhere, grants received, articles or books published, a new track or satellite campus established. We also welcome curricular innovations that may not have the research basis for peer-reviewed publication but that would be of anecdotal interest to PA faculty.

If you have news you would like to share, please send it to Eileen Evans, PAEA Networker managing editor, at eevans@PAEAonline.org; (703) 548-5538, ext. 307. News must be received by the 20th of the month for inclusion in the following month’s issue.
