PROGRAM DIRECTOR
University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center

The Child Health Associate/Physician Assistant Program (CHA/PA program) invites applications for program director with a full-time faculty position in the Department of Pediatrics. Appointment will be at a level appropriate to the experience of the applicant.

This three-year academic program has an outstanding reputation including award winning curricula in problem-based learning, disabilities and evidence-based medicine. Duties will include, but not be limited to, responsibility for the organization, administration, continuous review and analysis, planning and ongoing development of the program. The director will supervise faculty and staff and will participate in small group teaching, clinical precepting, evaluation of student progress, and other duties within the CHA/PA program. The director represents the program as a section head within the Department of Pediatrics and reports directly to the chair.

This position requires either

NCCPA certification and three years of clinical experience. A doctoral degree in a relevant area is preferred.

An MD/DO degree with board certification in pediatrics.

Additional requirements include experience in clinical care and teaching, along with excellent communication skills and basic computer skills. A record of scholarly work is preferred.

MEDICAL DIRECTOR/FACULTY

The University of Saint Francis, Fort Wayne, Indiana, seeks a dynamic physician to serve as a full-time faculty and medical director of our master’s degree, problem-based learning (PBL) physician assistant (PA) education program beginning July 1, 2007. CLINICAL COORDINATOR
Quinnipiac University, Connecticut

The Department of Biomedical Sciences physician assistant program at Quinnipiac University invites applications for a tenure-track clinical coordinator. This is a 12-month faculty position beginning in late spring 2007. Reporting directly to the program director, the successful candidate will be responsible for second-year students during the clinical phase of their training. Experience in PA education is desirable.

Primary responsibilities will be to oversee, maintain, continue the development of and perform outcome analysis on electronic student logging and clinical evaluations. This individual will also be responsible for providing technical support for students with regard to the clinical tracking program.

Other responsibilities will include identifying, developing, scheduling, and visiting clinical rotation sites. He/she will function as a liaison/coordinator for preceptors, serve as a student advisor, and monitor student and site performance. In addition, he/she will be expected to teach at the graduate and undergraduate levels, participate in PA program and university committee work, as well as maintain clinical practice hours.

Qualifications for this position include graduation from an accredited physician assistant program, a minimum of an earned master’s degree, proven clinical precepting and/or teaching experience, a minimum of three years’ current clinical experience, current NCCPA certification, and eligibility for licensure in the State of Connecticut. Proficiency in using clinical evaluation software is required.

Three full-time faculty positions are available for the developing PA program at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, Tulsa. Faculty will begin work in spring 2007 for an anticipated program start of summer 2008. Responsibilities include both academic responsibilities (preclinical and clinical curriculum development, student admissions, teaching, evaluation, etc.) and part-time primary care clinical responsibilities in clinics operated by the Department of Family Practice. One position will have clinical duties in a school-based clinic, another in a clinic serving a homeless population, and a third in a family practice clinic. The King’s College Department of Physician Assistant Studies seeks a full-time, non-tenure track faculty member for its Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies Program. The PA program has been continuously accredited since 1977 and has graduated over 800 PAs, with its first master’s degree recipients in 2002. This 12-month faculty position begins July 1, 2007. The applicant must be a PA who is NCCPA certified with a minimum of 2 years’ clinical experience and have or will complete a master’s degree within one year of hire. The university invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in the physician assistant (PA) program at the rank of instructor or assistant professor. The position will begin in the summer 2007. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Classroom teaching in a distance education environment at the Clearfield branch campus and at the Lock Haven University (LHU) main campus
  • Assistance to the clinical coordinator in the development and maintenance of clinical sites
  • Assistance to the didactic coordinator in curriculum development in dynamic, technologically enhanced environment
  • Student advising of both first- and second-year PA students
  • Site visitations of second-year PA students
  • Facilitation of small group of discussion sessions and physical diagnosis labs;
  • Mentoring students as part of the community health outreach program during the didactic year and
  • Other assignments at the direction of the PA program director

In addition to the qualifications listed above, the successful candidate must be able to communicate well and/or perform well in an interview or teaching demonstration. The successful candidate will also have to complete a background investigation as a condition of employment.
