PAEA Seeks Liaison to Society of Teachers of Family Medicine

PAEA is seeking an individual to serve as liaison to the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM), an organization of more than 5,000 teachers of family medicine. The society's mission is to "improve the health of all people through education, research, patient care, and advocacy." STFM’s strategic goals include faculty development, quality improvement, and information technology.

The PAEA liaison to the STFM, most recently Connie Goldgar, PAEA’s newly elected director at large, provides timely communication to the board on the society’s annual spring conference; conveys information and updates regarding STFM policies, educational innovations, and teaching/educational resources relevant to PAEA’s goals; and maintains a productive working relationship and regular communication with the STFM executive director.

Candidates should be conversant with

  • PAEA’s overall mission and strategic plan, as well as current challenges the profession faces relative to educating PAs

  • The common vision between PAEA and STFM

  • News and information on emerging PA issues that may affect STFM

Term

  • The term will begin immediately following appointment and end on December 31, 2009.

  • This term is renewable for an additional two years, based upon recommendation of the board of directors.

Funding

  • The liaison’s expenses for registration, travel, food, and lodging are covered for attending STFM’s Annual Spring Conference.
