PROGRAM DIRECTOR

The Child Health Associate/Physician Assistant Program (CHA/PA program) invites applications for program director with a full-time faculty position in the Department of Pediatrics. Appointment will be at a level appropriate to the experience of the applicant.

This three-year academic program has an outstanding reputation including award winning curricula in problem-based learning, disabilities, and evidence-based medicine. Duties will include but will not be limited to responsibility for the organization, administration, continuous review and analysis of, planning for, and ongoing development of the program. The director will supervise faculty and staff and will participate in small group teaching, clinical precepting, evaluation of student progress, and other duties within the CHA/PA program. The director represents the program as a section head within the Department of Pediatrics and reports directly to the chair.

This position requires either

  • NCCPA certification and three years of clinical experience. A doctoral degree in a relevant area is preferred; or

  • An MD/DO degree with board certification in pediatrics.

Additional requirements include experience in clinical care and teaching, along with excellent communication skills and basic computer skills. A record of scholarly work is preferred.

ACADEMIC COORDINATOR
Hofstra University, Hempstead, New York

The academic coordinator position for the Hofstra University Physician Assistant Studies Program is a full-time administrative position with teaching responsibilities. Responsible to the program director, the academic coordinator will manage and supervise all aspects of the four-semester didactic phase of the program. These include but are not limited to developing teaching schedules, teaching assignments, loads for faculty, peer teaching evaluations, and course/teacher ratings. Additional responsibilities include service on program and university committees, student counseling, curriculum development, and program evaluation.

Qualifications: NCCPA certification, minimum of three years of teaching experience (clinical or classroom), three years of clinical experience, and competency in information technology. A bachelor’s degree is required, and a master’s degree is preferred.

CLINICAL COORDINATOR

The Arcadia University PA Program is now accepting applications for the position of clinical coordinator to staff the new satellite program to be based in Christiana, Delaware. The first class for this site will enter in May 2007. This faculty member will work in collaboration with the program director and other faculty to ensure quality instruction in both the academic and clinical phases of the program. The position involves a combination of scheduling and coordination of lectures, clinical rotations, classroom teaching, clinical lab instruction, clinical site visits, program development, research, and the opportunity for clinical practice.

Arcadia University, located in suburban Philadelphia, is currently celebrating its 153rd anniversary. For the seventh consecutive year, U.S. News & World Report has placed Arcadia in the top tier among regional universities in the North. The Arcadia PA program started in 1996 as a master’s-level program. The program offers two- and three-year tracks with an option for a dual degree in public health or health education. Arcadia University is widely recognized as a leader in international studies, with students from the PA program having completed rotations in 15 different countries. Graduates have consistently excelled on their national board examinations, scoring among the top ten percent of programs in the country. There is extensive use of technology in the program, with the incorporation of a wireless Internet system. All students receive a laptop computer.

The successful candidate will have current PA national certification and an earned master's degree; a doctoral degree or the willingness to pursue one is preferred. In addition, a combination of five years of clinical and/or teaching experience is also required. This is a full-time, 12-month faculty position with salary; rank is commensurate with qualifications. FACULTY POSITION

Le Moyne College is seeking a dynamic assistant professor (tenure track) or assistant coordinator (non-tenure track), based on credentials, to teach clinical medicine, physical diagnosis, pharmacology, evidence-based medicine, and/or other physician assistant courses. This is a 10- or 12-month position within the Department of Physician Assistant Studies, beginning August 2007. FACULTY POSITION
Mercy College Graduate Program

Mercy College Graduate Program in Physician Assistant Studies is accepting applications for a full-time faculty position. The college’s program is a dual degree program: students enter with at least 90 credits and receive BS and MS degrees upon completion. The program employs the biopsychosocial model of medical training in which behavioral medicine and public health are emphasized.

This position is half didactic and half clinical. The faculty member will teach two-three classes per year (three semesters) and work with the present clinical coordinator to facilitate clinical rotations and teach clinical students.

The position is full time for 12 months. Tenure is an option for qualified faculty. The PA program is a part of the Division of Health Professions, which includes graduate programs in PT, OT, nursing, and communication disorders.
