Thomsen Elected to New Director at Large Position on PAEA Board

Kirsten Thomsen, PA-C, has been elected to the PAEA Board of Directors in a special election.

Thomsen becomes the first holder of a new director at large seat created as a result of revised bylaws approved by the membership at the 2006 PAEA Annual Education Forum in Quebec. Four other candidates besides Thomsen put themselves forward for this seat: David Fahringer, Mary Ann Laxen, Ted Ruback, and Donna Sewell. The first election did not yield an outright winner as no candidate received the 50 percent-plus-one vote required by the PAEA bylaws. Therefore, a run-off election was held between the top two vote-getters: Thomsen and Ruback. As required by the bylaws, each member program was allotted one vote, which is typically cast by the program director or designee.

Thomsen will join the other board members for their annual strategic planning retreat in Tucson, Arizona, at the end of this week.

The members of the board and the Nominations and Awards Committee congratulate Thomsen and express their appreciation to all the candidates who ran in this election. The board also thanks all PAEA member programs that participated in the election.
