PAEA Basic Skills Faculty Development Workshop to Be Held in Denver, March 8-9

Registration Form | Participation Sheet

The PAEA Faculty Development Institute (FDI) is offering the Basic Skills Faculty Development Workshop on Thursday, March 8, and Friday, March 9, 2007, in Denver, Colorado.

Past participants have been overwhelmingly positive in their evaluation of this workshop, an FDI favorite since 1997. The workshop focuses on didactic skills and the basic knowledge and skills needed for course and curriculum development. The following topics will also be addressed:

  • Teaching and assessment strategies
  • Technology in teaching
  • Student counseling and advising
  • Time management
  • Self-assessment and career planning in the academic environment

Participants will explore these issues through a variety of adult-centered, active learning techniques that can be readily adapted to the classroom or wider academic setting. The workshop is designed for junior PA faculty — those with less than two years’ experience in PA education and in positions other than program or medical director.

Participants must commit to attend the workshop for the entire two days. The registration fee is $375, which includes breakfast, lunch, and snacks for two days. The guest room rate at the meeting hotel is $117 per night, single occupancy. (Please do not submit the fee or make any travel arrangements until you have been notified of acceptance into the workshop.)

To take part in the workshop, complete the attached registration form and participant information sheet (including the goals statement), and return them to PAEA by Wednesday, January 24, 2007. Send your materials to Jennifer Jarmin at jjarmin@PAEAonline.org; fax, (703) 548-5539.

Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Register early to secure your spot. Please call Jennifer at (703) 548-5538, ext. 311, with any questions.
