Basic Clinical Coordinators Workshop

San Francisco, California
May 25-26, 2006

The Basic Clinical Coordinators Workshop, offered by the PAEA Faculty Development Institute (FDI), is designed specifically for clinical coordinators with less than three years' experience and will be especially beneficial for people with less than a year on the job. FDI has had great feedback from participants in the past who have seen this not only as a chance to expand their clinical coordination skills but also as an excellent opportunity to network with other clinical coordinators. The leaders of this workshop are Sandy Hoops, MS, PA-C, University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences, and David Fahringer, MSPH, PA-C, University of Kentucky. Both are very experienced clinical coordinators.

Participants of this workshop will have an opportunity to:

Meet other clinical coordinators from all over the country
    Explore the clinical coordinator’s role
Expand their networking, communication, and administrative skills
Understand and discuss timely issues, such as federal and state rules and regulations, documentation concerns, and technology in the clinical year
Wrestle with thorny problems such as competing for and sharing clinical sites, dealing with difficult students, and avoiding burnout
Learn how other programs have dealt with learning objectives, testing, and other types of evaluations; student and patient tracking; the expanded use of PDAs; international experiences; developing and nurturing preceptors and sites; and job development
Share ideas, syllabi, forms, tracking and scheduling programs, etc.
Most importantly, voice their most pressing concerns and problems and receive advice and guidance from facilitators and peers

The cost of the workshop is $375 per person (to be submitted ONLY upon notification of acceptance). The registration fee includes snacks on both days, dinner on Thursday, and continental breakfast on Friday.
