Basic Clinical Coordinators Workshop
Philadelphia
May 25-26, 2007
Facilitators: Sandy Hoops, University of Colorado Health Sciences Center; David Fahringer, University of Kentucky; Allan Forde, University of Utah
Fee: $375 | Registration Form
The Basic Clinical Coordinators Workshop, offered by the PAEA Faculty Development Institute (FDI), is designed specifically for clinical coordinators with less than three years' experience and will be especially beneficial for those with less than a year on the job. This two-day add-on workshop begins before AAPA’s 35th Annual PA Conference in Philadelphia.
FDI has had great feedback from participants in the past who have seen this workshop as an excellent opportunity to not only expand their clinical coordination skills but also to network with other clinical coordinators. Participants last year commented that the workshop allowed participants to "discuss the realities of being a clinical coordinator in a safe environment" and to "take some new ideas back to my program."
Participants of this workshop will have an opportunity to:
- Expand their networking, communication, and administrative skills
- Discuss the challenges faced by clinical coordinators and explore possible solutions
- Understand and discuss timely issues, such as federal and state rules and regulations, documentation concerns, and technology in the clinical year
- Wrestle with thorny problems such as competing for and sharing clinical sites, dealing with difficult students, and avoiding burnout
- Learn how other programs have dealt with learning objectives, testing, and other types of evaluations; student and patient tracking; the expanded use of PDAs; international experiences; developing and nurturing preceptors and sites; and job development
- Share ideas, syllabi, forms, tracking and scheduling programs, etc.
- Most importantly, voice their most pressing concerns and problems and receive advice and guidance from facilitators and peers
Participants must commit to attend the workshop for the entire two days. The registration fee is $375, which includes continental breakfast and snacks on both days. ( Please do not make any travel or housing arrangements until you have been notified of acceptance into the workshop.)
To take part in the workshop, complete the registration form and return it to PAEA. Please indicat payment method on the form.
