Join APAP’s Committees

APAP Committee Vacancy Announcement

APAP is pleased to invite applications for membership on its committees. Under a new process approved by the board, all vacancies will be announced annually in conjunction with APAP’s Education Forum. (However, since this first iteration of appointments occurs after the annual meeting, terms will be slightly shortened).

Interested faculty are invited to apply for any number of leadership openings on these committees.

Committee/Council/Institute Standing Charge/Mission
Development Committee The Development Committee shall identify and develop relationships with external industry representatives to ascertain sources of support for initiatives and projects of mutual interest and benefit to member programs.
Education Committee The committee shall promote the education, professional development, and networking of PA program faculty during APAP’s annual meeting sessions and presentations.
Finance Committee The Finance Committee shall be responsible for monitoring APAP’s finances, preparing an annual budget, and making related recommendations to the board that ensure the growth and stability of APAP’s revenue base.
Committee on Ethnic and Cultural Diversity The committee shall promote the recruitment and retention of ethnically and culturally diverse faculty and students; advocate for underrepresented and/or economically disadvantaged; and serve as a mentors and role models in education, the profession, and the community.

Terms

  • All positions are for two years (November 1–October 31)
  • All terms are renewable once, based upon recommendation of the APAP president in consultation with the board of directors and chair

Funding

  • Meetings held in conjunction with the APAP Education Forum and Semiannual Meeting are not funded
  • Meetings held outside annual membership meetings are funded (including travel, hotel, and meals)

Requirements

  • Actively contributes to carrying out the standing charges and/or mission of the specified group
  • Agrees to participate in scheduled conference calls and face-to-face meetings (committees typically meet in conjunction with annual meetings and may meet one other time during the year, in addition to periodic conference calls)
  • Meets agreed upon deadlines for assignments
  • Functions well as member of a team

Application process

Interested parties should send a CV and cover letter explaining why they would like to be considered for the position. Be sure to indicate on which committee you would like to serve. Materials should be submitted electronically to the appropriate staff person in the individual call.

Application Deadline

All applications are due no later than January 18, 2005.
