MEMBERSHIP MATTERS

The AAPA Membership Matters column, written by the AAPA staff, features the latest information about new, enhanced, and planned AAPA member benefits, services, and products for you and your students. AAPA wants to help you make the academic years more productive and rewarding for your students. Please make them aware of these resources.

AAPA Membership Information & Resources
Handbook

The 2005-06 edition of the AAPA Membership Information & Resources Handbook, one of the top-rated benefits AAPA members receive, has been updated and streamlined. Year after year, members tell us that this is an invaluable resource for information on the AAPA, membership, and the PA profession. This year’s edition has been restructured, allowing you quick access to the information you need. Inside you will find important information on:

  • Membership benefits and services
  • Annual conference and Challenge Bowl activities
  • NCCPA exam assistance
  • Student scholarships and awards
  • Career development resources
  • Leadership opportunities, and much more…

AAPA members will receive their Membership Information & Resources Handbook in late October. This publication is now available in pdf format on the Members Only section of the AAPA Web site (www.aapa.org/member.html). We hope this provides you with better access and the convenience of having the information you need when you want it.

From Program to Practice: A Guide to the Physician Assistant Profession

Each year AAPA provides all PA programs nationwide with copies of our premier student publication, From Program to Practice. This is designed for students’ use during their last semester of study. It contains essential information students need to make the leap from academia to professional practice. Students will find the latest information on:

  • Third-party reimbursement
  • Malpractice insurance requirements
  • Prescribing and dispensing guidelines
  • State licensure
  • Guidelines to ethical conduct
  • Preparing for employment

Beginning in mid-January, PA program directors will receive a shipment of From Program to Practice for their entire PA student bodies. Additional copies, while they last, may be requested from Melissa Cwiertniewicz at 703/836-2272, ext. 3306. This publication will also be made available on the Members Only section of the AAPA Web site (www.aapa.org/member.html) and on the AAPA Student Academy Web site (http://saaapa.aapa.org).
