Test Item Writers Needed for APAP/AAPA Recertification Book

APAP is seeking test item writers to help develop exams for the next edition of A Comprehensive Review for the Certification and Recertification Examinations for Physician Assistants (O’Connell and Zarbock). An excellent resource for PAs preparing for the PANCE and PANRE exams, this comprehensive review is developed and endorsed by AAPA and APAP. This is a time-limited appointment for the sole purpose of creating the front- and back-end assessment tools for the next edition, scheduled for release in late 2006.

Item writers should have clinical experience (primary care is desirable, pharmacology is needed). All test writers will have an ongoing responsibility for submitting, constructing, reviewing questions, and possibly attending a committee meeting once a year.

Funding/Compensation

  • Writers will be funded to attend one meeting. Additional monetary compensation will be based on percentage of items published in the final product.

Application Process

If you are interested in being a test item writer, please apply with a current curriculum vita and a letter of interest indicating your test-writing experience by December 15, to Sam Kang, skang@apap.org. Please address questions to Mr. Kang, manager of education services, after November 15, at 703/548-5538, ext. 3411.

Questions about the Recertification Book or the process of writing questions may be directed to Claire O’Connell, oconnecb@umdnj.edu.
