October 2003 Announcements
Two newly accredited programs have recently joined APAP. They are
APAP is pleased that these newly accredited programs have chosen to join the Association. All 133 currently accredited programs are APAP members.
Several CASPA presentations are scheduled during this years Education Forum for programs at all stages of participation. Thursday, October 23, 2:15-4:15 p.m.: CASPA Applicant Data Presentation. Data gathered during CASPAs second year will be presented in conjunction with the Annual Report. Early data from the present cycle will also be reviewed. Saturday, October 25, 9:00-11:00: CASPA Stakeholders Meeting. All programs currently participating in CASPA are invited to join in future planning and policy decision-making. Saturday, October 25, 2:30-4:00: CASPA Newcomers Roundtable. New CASPA members and interested others are invited to dialogue with the CASPA Advisory Committee and staff on ways to maximize their first year of participation in the application service.
The APAP Student Writing Contest will be lauched shortly, and all information will be distributed this year by e-mail. Instructions and guidelines will be forwarded by the national office in early November. The programs deadline will be February 1, 2004. Faculty will be solicited for their help in encouraging students to submit entries and as volunteers to review the contest submissions. The guidelines will also be published in Decembers APAP Update.
APAP is pleased to announce that its Education Forum has been reviewed and approved for a maximum of 4.75 hours of professional Category I (Preapproved) CME credit by the Physician Assistant Review Panel. Physician assistants should claim only those hours actually spent participating in the CME activity. This program was planned in accordance with AAPAs CME Standards for Live Programs and for Commercial support of Live Programs. Sessions eligible for CME credit follow:

The Clinical and Scientific Affairs Council (CSAC) of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) announces a call for abstracts for its 13th Annual Clinical and Professional Poster Session. Poster session activities will be held in conjunction with AAPAs 32nd Annual Physician Assistant Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada. Click here for details. Four PA programs will be recognized and awarded $5,000 each to support further development or implementation of the practice or curriculum enhancements through the Ninth Annual Innovations in Health Care Recognition Program, sponsored jointly by the Physician Assistant Foundation, AAPA, and Pfizer Incorporated.
