Join APAPs Committees
and Institutes
APAP is pleased to invite applications
for membership on its committees and institutes. These vacancies are
announced annually.
Specifics for each position, as well as qualifications,
are accessible from the links in the left-hand column. Information
common to all calls, such as terms, reappointment, and funding are
outlined below. APAP members are invited to apply for any number of
leadership positions on the following committees or institutes.

Faculty Development Institute
|
The mission of the Faculty Development Institute is to promote
the professional development of PA program faculty and staff through
the enrichment of knowledge and skills in the areas of teaching,
management, leadership and education/health policy. |

Research Institute
|
The mission of the APAP Research Institute is to foster research
and scholarly activities within the Association of Physician Assistant
Programs. This will be accomplished by advising and making recommendations
to the APAP board for the coordination and oversight of research-related
activities. |
| CASPA Advisory Committee
|
The CASPA Advisory Committee shall provide oversight for the
maintenance and enhancement of the CASPA service.
|
| Committee on Ethnic
and Cultural Diversity |
The Committee on Ethnic and Cultural Diversity shall promote
the recruitment and retention of ethnically and culturally diverse
faculty and students; advocate for underrepresented and/or economically
disadvantaged; and serve as mentors and role models in education,
the profession, and the community. |
| Education Committee
|
The Education Committee shall promote the education, professional
development, and networking of PA program faculty during APAPs
annual meeting sessions and presentations. |
| Finance Committee
|
The Finance Committee shall be responsible for monitoring APAPs
finances, preparing an annual budget, and making related recommendations
to the board to ensure the growth and stability of APAPs
revenue base. |
| International Affairs
Committee |
The International Affairs Committee provides expertise regarding
PA education to international constituencies and serves as an
information exchange for APAP member programs regarding clinical
education outside the United States. |
| Nominations and
Awards Committee |
The Nominations and Awards Committee will annually identify
and solicit qualified candidates to serve on the APAP Board of
Directors. The committee shall also annually select award recipients
based on established criteria. |
Terms
- Terms for all positions are for two years, from November 1, 2005,
to October 31, 2007, with the possibility of reappointment.
- All terms are renewable once, based upon recommendation of the
APAP president in consultation with the board of directors and chair
of the committee or institute.
- Members in good standing do not need to reapply at the expiration
of their first terms; they will be invited by their chairs to remain
on the committee.
Funding
- Meetings held in conjunction with the APAP Education Forum and
Semiannual Meeting are not funded.
- Meetings held outside of the APAP Education Forum and Semiannual
Meeting are funded (including travel, lodging, and meals).
Requirements
- Members actively contribute to carrying out the standing charges
and/or mission of the specified group.
- Members agree to participate in scheduled conference calls and
face-to-face meetings (in addition to the telephone conference calls,
committees may meet once a year besides those meetings held in conjunction
with annual meetings).
- Members meet agreed-upon deadlines for assignments.
- Members function well as team players.

in the call, as well as a letter describing your interest in and qualifications
for the position for which you are applying, in addition to any additional
information requested in the specific call. Please indicate the position
for which you are applying.
Application Deadline
All applications are due at APAP headquarters by September 15,
2005.
