Accredited since April 2000, this bachelors level program is in the process of seeking approval to transition to an entry-level masters degree program. Qualified applicants will be a physician assistants or physicians with appropriate licensure and certification, a masters degree (doctoral degree preferred), relevant clinical experience, as well as experience in teaching, scholarship, and educational administration. The ideal candidate will be an individual with a passion for the physician assistant profession, a vision for professional education, experience with accreditation, and a record of scholarly and professional activity. Candidates are expected to have strong communication skills and a desire to work with students in a university setting that prides itself on providing close relationships between students and faculty. The masters degree program admits 56 students annually into its 30-month curriculum. The successful candidate will be responsible for the direction of the Masters PA program on the Lexington campus and the extension campus in Morehead, both in Kentucky, and will work closely with the director of graduate studies in areas of student advising, student recruitment, and evaluation of student performance. The program director will be expected to accomplish scholarship activities appropriate to academic faculty rank, which include research, publication, grant activities and/or creative, collaborative projects. The opportunity for clinical practice is available and encouraged. Previous teaching, administrative, and clinical experience is preferred. The successful applicant must be a NCCPA-certified physician assistant and have a doctoral degree in a related field (e.g., PhD, PharmD, DPH, MD, EdD). This accredited masters-level program is established in the College of Health Sciences. The faculty member will be responsible for advising and teaching in the didactic curriculum. This is a twelve-month faculty position, which includes responsibilities for college and community service, scholarly activity, and opportunities for clinical practice.
