Research Institute Announces 2004 APAP Call for Grant Proposals Proposals are now being accepted for the APAP Research Institutes Small Grants Program. Several grants of up to $5,000 may be awarded. The Small Grants Program is intended to foster research activity on the education and behavior of physician assistants. This may apply to students, characteristics of PA education, or the examination of social phenomenon that have application to physician assistants. Awards to PA educators will be presented at the 2004 Education Forum in Nashville, Tennessee. Eligibility Criteria 1. The project must be research oriented. A research question or research project should be the focus of the study. The results of the study must have some application to understanding PA activity or education. 2. The research project must be accomplished within 12 months of the award and a final report on the project submitted to the Research Institute. Grant recipients are expected to present the findings of their studies at the APAP Education Forum one year following the award. 3. The Principal Investigator (PI) must be a faculty member at an accredited PA program and must be employed by the educational institution for a minimum of 20 hours per week for the duration of the project. The PI is responsible for the completion of the project and submitting the one-year status report to the Research Institute. 4. The grant will cover the cost of equipment, material, and operations, as well as most labor, personnel, or consulting costs. Institutional indirect, administrative, or facilities costs will NOT be covered by the Research Institute grant. Institutional support is encouraged but is not a criterion. Proposal Format Requirements 1. Only six pages will be accepted and should be in the format prescribed below. 2. Proposals must be in Microsoft Word 4.0 or higher format (Mac or PC). 3. Proposals must be in 12-point font, with 1.5 line spacing, 1-inch margin left and right, and be left justified. 4. Font choices are Times New Roman, Arial, Courier New, or Tahoma. 5. The proposal must be submitted electronically no later than midnight of the due date. Format
