Basic Skills November 23, 2004 [Registration Form] [Participant Information Form] APAP, through the Faculty Development Institute (FDI), is once again pleased to offer the Basic Skills Faculty Development Workshop, November 2 & 3, 2004, in Nashville, Tennessee. This highly interactive workshop was first offered in conjunction with the annual meeting in 1997 and was most recently conducted at APAPs 2003 Education Forum in Phoenix, Arizona. Past participants have been overwhelmingly positive in their evaluation of this workshop. One participant stated, The workshop far exceeded its purpose of providing new faculty with an introduction to the fundamental knowledge, skills, and attitudes that will help me succeed as a faculty member. The interactive nature of the workshop provided me not only with a new perspective on a variety of teaching strategies, but also with a network of other faculty who will serve as a resource for many years to come. The workshop will focus on didactic-related skills and will address many issues including: fundamental knowledge and skills in course and curriculum development, the use of various teaching and assessment strategies, student counseling and advising, time management, and the use of technology in teaching, as well as self-assessment and career planning in the academic environment. This workshop will offer an opportunity to explore these issues through an experiential process that includes a variety of adult-centered, active learning techniques that can be readily adapted to the classroom or wider academic setting. While the number of participants is limited to 25 people, first priority will be given to those who have been wait-listed for a previous session. All faculty are encouraged to register early. The cost of this workshop is $375 (to be submitted ONLY upon notification of acceptance). Registration fee includes 2 snacks and 2 breakfasts. The presenters would like the participants to be the most junior
of PA faculty. To participate in this workshop, participants must:
