NCCPA Board of Directors:
Call for Representative

APAP is seeking a candidate interested in serving as one of the Association’s two representatives to the Board of Directors of the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). The appointee will assume responsibility as a full member of the board and serve as a liaison for the exchange of information between APAP and the NCCPA.

Qualifications: Candidates must be currently involved in teaching or administration at an APAP member PA program and be active in and knowledgeable about the activities of the Association. Preference will be given to PAs who hold current NCCPA certification. The successful candidate for this position will possess most if not all of the following qualifications:

  • Knowledge of PA education and educational issues
  • Knowledge of the current health care environment
  • Experience either as a PA or in working closely with PAs
  • Ability to understand statistics and to make decisions about testing for professional competence
  • Knowledge of statutory and legal structures governing professional licensure
  • Good communication skills
  • Knowledge of financial, legal, operational, and other aspects of relevant organizations, especially those charged with protecting the public or serving the nation
  • Commitment to consumer protection

Responsibilities: NCCPA board members are expected to

  • Attend all meetings of the NCCPA Board of Directors, including two two-day and approximately four one-day meetings per year, and participate in conference calls as needed (all expenses are paid by NCCPA)
  • Exchange communications between APAP and the NCCPA

Terms of office: The representative will complete the reminder of Venetia Orcutt’s term, with the possibility of reappointment. No more than two consecutive terms may be served.
