May 2003 Announcements
The Managing Self, Managing Others Workshop, scheduled to be held from June 6-8 in Salt Lake City at the University of Utah PA Program, has been cancelled due to insufficient registration. The Arcadia University PA Program in Pennsylvania will hold the workshop, as planned, from June 27-29, 2003.
In October 2002, APAP contacted member programs to obtain Web links to masters completion options for practicing PAs Weve received a number of Web addresses in response, as well as several program brochures describing existing options within the programs. Weve also been the beneficiary of information on the completion programs collected by one of our member program directors, Jeff Nicholson, of the University of Wisconsin-Madison PA Program, that we will incorporate into our database. If your program indicated either last October, as part of the updating process for the PA Programs Directory, or by sending us brochures that you offer a masters completion option, APAP staff will be contacting you by e-mail. Well request information on the following categories to publish an overview of the programs:
Programs that offer a masters completion option for practicing PAs, other than those included in the APPAP fellowships and residencies and outlined at www.appap.org, are invited to provide us with pertinent details. Contact Eileen Evans at eileen@aapa.org with this information or with questions. A final list will be accessible to practicing PAs on the APAP Web site and shared, as well, with the AAPA.
Programs will be interested in the CASPA session scheduled for Thursday,
May 22, from 3:00-5:00 p.m., Year-end Data and Changes to This
Years Cycle. The CASPA Advisory Committee will present
aggregate data on the applicant pool for 2003. New data available
this year includes information on reapplicants, impact of deadlines
and applicant behavior trends, and fee waiver recipients. Future plans
for the CASPA service will also be presented. While all of the workshops, roundtables, and pearls selected for the APAP Semiannual Meeting in New Orleans promise to be enlightening and well worth your time, please keep in mind when you decide upon sessions to attend that the following presentations have been awarded a maximum of eight hours of Professional Category I (Preapproved) CME credit by the AAPA. Each of the eight workshops listed below is approved for one hour of CME credit.
