APAP Seeks Liaison to AAPA Education Council APAP invites PA educators interested in educational issues affecting the profession to serve as APAPs liaison to the AAPA Education Council. The person selected will replace liaison Michael Huckabee, whose second term is expiring. Qualifications include the ability to study, analyze, and debate policy positions and a broad perspective on the PA profession, education, and higher education issues. Applicants must be on the faculty of an APAP member program, be willing to serve a two-year term, and have knowledge of and experience with APAP. Primary responsibilities of the APAP liaison are: (1) to represent APAPs policies and positions to other council members, and (2) to communicate with the APAP Board of Directors on the councils activities. Council members frequently have time-consuming research and writing assignments. They must be able to attend at least one two-day meeting a year, as well as meetings scheduled during the APAP Semiannual Meeting, the annual APAP Education Forum, and the Leadership Summit, held annually in July. Attendance at meetings not held in conjunction with the Semiannual Meeting or the Education Forum will be funded by APAP. The councils current agenda includes development and assessment of competencies in the PA profession, continuing medical education policy, entry-level and terminal degrees, postgraduate PA education, and the accreditation of PA programs. If you are interested in serving on the Education Council, please submit the following materials electronically by May 6, 2005, to Eileen Evans, eileen@aapa.org: a current CV; and an essay that describes your relevant educational experience, educational issues of particular concern to you, and the contribution you would make to the councils deliberations. |
