2003 APAP Education Forum

CALL FOR PROPOSALS

Share your expertise with your APAP colleagues! APAP is seeking presenters for its workshop, roundtable, panel presentation, and pearl sessions during the 2003 APAP Education Forum in Phoenix, Arizona, October 22-26. If you are looking for opportunities to engage in scholarly activity, this is a perfect venue. To submit a proposal, please complete the entire on-line application form no later than June 30, 2003. Please note that all fields must be completed for the form to be submitted.

Definitions

Workshops are participatory experiences in which a maximum of 25-30 percent of the presentation is didactic (lecture) and a minimum of 70 percent of the presentation involves the active participation of attendees. Workshops can be either 45 minutes or one hour in length.

Roundtables are brainstorming sessions on preselected topics and provide forums for sharing ideas. These discussions are likely platforms for the generation of future workshops and can be either 45 minutes or one hour in length.

Panel Presentations are presented by a panel of experts with various views on a particular issue or topic and can be 45 minutes or one hour in length.

Pearls of the Profession are 15-minute presentations on a single, narrowly-defined topic (i.e., “Choosing a Textbook”).

Handouts

Disk copies of handouts will be required on acceptance of proposal. Please note that these handout materials are very meaningful to meeting participants. Speaker submission of materials is required for participation.

All proposals must contain the following:

  • Title (specify workshop, roundtable, panel presentation, or pearl)
  • Authors/facilitators (include credentials)
  • Primary contact (person to receive confirmation material)
  • Educational goals and objectives
  • Brief description of session (including format, activities, and schedule)
  • Narrative description (maximum 50 words)
  • Time requirement
  • Room and space requirements (include preferred setup)
  • Target audience (programs directors, clinical faculty, academic faculty, etc.)
  • Audiovisual/supply/equipment requirements
