Call for Articles for The Advisor

APAP is currently inviting articles for publication in The Advisor, the official journal of the National Association of Advisors for the Health Professions (NAAHP). Physician assistants and the PA profession will be featured in the Summer 2005 issue. This represents an exciting opportunity to familiarize health advisors with the PA profession and its educational process.

NAAHP accepts both original manuscripts and articles/editorials reprinted from other publications, with permissions. Articles other than reprints must assign copyright to the National Association of Advisors for the Health Professions, Inc. Submissions covering the following topics areas are suggested:

  • Major trends in the PA profession, perhaps with a historical perspective
  • The history and development of the PA profession and its role as part of the health care team
  • Challenges facing PAs today
  • The job market and possible career paths for PAs
  • Innovations on the horizon with regard to the PA curriculum
  • How PA education is addressing professionalism and/or cultural competence
  • Teaching modalities, such as problem-based learning
  • How students best prepare academically for a career as a PA
  • Financing options for PA students

Instructions for authors: The Advisor publishes three basic categories of papers: research articles, viewpoint (descriptive or opinion pieces), and reports (short papers). Manuscripts should be submitted electronically as Word documents to Al Baggett, abaggett@aapa.org, by Friday, April 22, 2005. Please include an accompanying cover letter that includes the author’s professional position, institutional affiliation, and e-mail address. For more information, contact Al, 703/836-2272, ext. 3411.
