Clinical Coordinator

The University of Findlay Physician Assistant Program invites applications for a clinical coordinator. The PA Program seeks a strong applicant who believes in a team approach, is dedicated to providing quality PA education and desires to grow with the program in the transition to a master’s degree.

The position is responsible for all elements of the clinical year; planning, organizing, coordinating, monitoring and evaluating the PA clinical curriculum, including site development and site visits, preceptor and student evaluation, mentorship, and service as a liaison and facilitator for the second-year students. Position is available February 1, 2006.

The University of Findlay is a growing and innovative institution with an enrollment of approximately 4700 students. It is located 45 miles south of Toledo, Ohio. The College of Health Professions serves nearly 700 students in professional programs including physician assistant, physical therapy, occupational therapy, nuclear medicine technology and athletic training. Clinical Coordinator

The Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS) has opened an exciting and unique opportunity at its Manchester, New Hampshire, campus for an innovative educator to serve as clinical coordinator of its Physician Assistant Studies Program.

Reporting to the chair of the Department of Physician Assistant Studies - Manchester, the clinical coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the clinical education portion of the program, developing the clinical site, preparing students for clinical placements, preparing all paperwork related to clinical placements, placing students in clinical sites, overseeing clinical site visits and site evaluations of students, assigning student clinical education grades, and advising students.

Other responsibilities include

  • Establishing and monitoring clinical affiliation sites and agreements
  • Leading ongoing clinical education curricular revisions to maintain state-of-the-art clinical education
  • Teaching courses in area(s) of expertise, as assigned
  • Establishing a personal program of scholarly activity
  • Performing service activities to advance the program and the profession, including assisting in the recruitment, orientation, and retention of students; participating in clinical site visits; and continuing quality improvement through assessment of clinical education

Qualifications: Minimum qualifications include NCCPA certification, eligibility for a New Hampshire license, at least three years of full-time physician assistant clinical practice experience, and a graduate degree in PA studies or a related field. Preferred qualifications include an earned doctoral degree, experience as a clinical coordinator, and experience in curriculum development and teaching courses using a course management system. The candidate must demonstrate strong communication, time management, and organizational skills; an ability to work independently and as a team member; and a commitment to maintaining high professional standards.

The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, School of Allied Health Sciences, Department of Physician Assistant Studies, is accepting applications for an entry-level faculty position. Responsibilities include teaching, service, scholarly activity with a focus on the department’s supervised clinical practice activities. This includes coordinating student rotations, conducting on-site student evaluations, recruiting rotation sites, and representing the department, school, and university. Participation in our practice plan is possible.

Qualifications: Master’s degree (or degree in progress) from a regionally accredited university or college; graduation from an accredited PA program; NCCPA certification; Texas PA license eligibility; three years of clinical experience (primary care experience desired); and evidence of excellent communication skills. Candidate must be able to travel frequently throughout South Texas. Salary and appointment dependent on education and experience. Program Director

Program Director

Mercer University is establishing a physician assistant program as a collaborative effort with Piedmont Healthcare and is seeking a dynamic program director to provide leadership in developing and growing this exciting new venture. The program will be based at Mercer University’s Cecil B. Day Campus in Atlanta, Georgia, and will have a first class matriculation target date of fall 2007. The position will be either tenure track or non-tenure track, and will hold academic rank based on credentials. Program Director

The Child Health Associate/Physician Assistant Program (CHA/PA Program) invites applications for program director with a full-time faculty position in the Department of Pediatrics. Appointment will be at a level appropriate to the experience of the applicant.

This three-year academic program has an outstanding reputation for its award-winning curriculum in problem-based learning, disabilities, and EBM. Duties will include but will not be limited to being responsible for the organization, administration, continuous review and analysis, planning, and ongoing development of the program. The director will supervise faculty and staff and participate in small-group teaching, clinical precepting, evaluation of student progress, and other duties within the CHA/PA Program. The director represents the program as a section head within the Department of Pediatrics and reports directly to the chair.

This position requires either

  • NCCPA certification, three years of clinical experience, and a doctoral degree in a relevant area, or
  • An MD/DO degree with board certification in pediatrics. Additional requirements include experience in clinical care and teaching, along with excellent communication skills and basic computer skills. A record of scholarly work is preferred.
