PAEA and the Student Academy Seek Graduate Advisor

Call for Nominations

Share your expertise on the PA profession, education, and student mentorship with the Student Academy of American Academy of Physician Assistants (SAAAPA). PAEA and the SAAAPA Board of Directors are seeking an individual to serve as the PAEA graduate advisor to the Student Academy. The SAAAPA board depends on the experience, knowledge, and guidance of the PAEA graduate advisor. Program directors and faculty with insight into issues related to student development in the areas of leadership and professionalism are encouraged to nominate themselves or a colleague for this position.

General Eligibility: Candidates must be formally associated with a PAEA member program. Candidates should possess knowledge of the philosophy, goals, and functions of both PAEA and SAAAPA, as demonstrated by prior participation in PAEA activities and interaction with SAAAPA. The application deadline is April 1.

Term of Office: The term of office for the PAEA graduate advisor is two years (June 10, 2006 to June 10, 2008), with the option of reappointment for an additional two-year term. No individual may serve more than two consecutive two-year terms.

Funding: Travel, lodging, and per diem expenses for official SAAAPA meetings are covered by PAEA.

Responsibilities: The PAEA graduate advisor is a nonvoting member of the Student Academy Board of Directors. The advisor shall attend any meetings necessary to conduct the business of the Student Academy, including, but not limited to, meetings held in January (SAAAPA board meeting); May (AAPA Annual Conference); July (Leadership Summit); and October (SAAAPA board meeting).

Additionally, the PAEA graduate advisor will help foster continuity and communication between the SAAAPA Board of Directors and PAEA. The advisor will also perform any other duties as delineated by the Student Academy Board of Directors.
