Program Director Position

Touro University-California has an immediate opening for Program Director of the Master of Physician Assistant Studies/Master of Public Health Program, College of Health Sciences.

Location: Touro University-California, Vallejo, CA

Requirement: Masters Degree required, Doctoral Degree preferred. The candidate must either be a NCCPA certified Physician Assistant and either have or be eligible for a state California Physician Assistant license or a board certified physician, primary care preferred. A minimum of 5 years of combined experience in clinical practice, administration, and teaching is required.

Description: The PA/MPH program is an innovative dual degree program whose mission is to train culturally competent PA's who will become an integral part of the health care team that will contribute to the wellness of their communities through patient care, service, leadership and research. The Program Director is responsible for the coordination, development and management of all aspects of this program in collaboration with the Director of the Master of Public Health Program.

Clinical Coordinator Position

The Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences Department of Physician Assistant Studies is accepting applications for the following position: Clinical Coordinator/Assistant Professor.

Description: In collaboration with the Medical Director and the Program Director, the Clinical Coordinator will manage the clinical phase of instruction being provided by clinical preceptors to students in the clinical phase of their education to assure the effectiveness of instruction. As a liaison between the MCPHS Department of Physician Assistant Studies and instructors at affiliated clinical sites, the Clinical Coordinator will also facilitate and coordinate faculty input and commentary.

Specific responsibilities will include: participating in curriculum and program development; development of the philosophy, goals, and competency-based instructional objectives; development of agreements/contracts with clinical affiliates and preceptors; evaluating the performance of students and instructors during on-site visits; performing analyses of the clinical database; providing counsel to students; participating in teaching and maintaining a program of scholarly activities; implementing grants and contracts; recruiting faculty and staff; and other duties as requested.

The successful candidate will have current PA national certification; earned master's degree required with teaching experience preferred; experience in higher education preferred; strong communication, management, and organizational skills; demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team of motivated and experienced individuals; honesty; integrity and commitment to maintaining high professional standards.

Touro University-California has two immediate openings for Director of Clinical Education and Faculty of the Master of Physician Assistant Studies/Master of Public Health Program, College of Health Sciences.

Primary responsibilities for the Director of Clinical Education include development, coordination and maintenance of clinical rotation clerkships for all students in the Program. Both positions will include academic instruction, advising students, curriculum development, participating in University as well as Program committees, and occasional clinical work in the university's Faculty Practice Clinic.

Faculty Position

The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Physician Assistant Program is currently seeking to hire a physician assistant for a faculty position. This position is full-time, 12 month, tenure track position. A start date of June 1, 2004 is preferred. Competitive salary commensurate with experience.

University: MUSC is a public academic health center located in beautiful Charleston, SC on the coast. The University is comprised of six colleges which include: Health Professions, Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing and Graduate Studies. Program: The physician assistant program is fully accredited and recently transitioned to graduate level and will award an MSPAS degree. Our mission is to educate physician assistants who will provide quality primary medical care with a specific emphasis on the underserved.

Position: Duties include, but are not limited to, instruction of courses in area of expertise. All program faculty contribute to student advising, admissions, curriculum development and classroom teaching, as well as accreditation responsibilities. Clinical practice time is available and encouraged.

Qualifications: Minimum of a master's degree in health or related field, graduate of an accredited physician assistant program, current NCCPA certification, eligibility for licensure in South Carolina and clinical experience. The successful applicant will possess the potential for excellence in teaching, good communication and organizational skills and be able to function effectively in a team environment. Prior administrative and/or research experience and information technology proficiency are preferred.
