Clinical Coordinator Position

The Touro University - California, Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies/Master of Public Health Program (MSPAS/MPH Program) has an opening for Clinical Coordinator/Core Faculty.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred
  • NCCPA-certified Physician Assistant and either have or be eligible for California state licensure
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience teaching and presenting lectures
  • Minimum of two years of clinical experience
  • Ability to work collaboratively with program staff

Program Description:

The MSPAS/MPH Program is an innovative program whose mission is to train culturally competent PAs who will become an integral part of the health care team and who will contribute to the wellness of their communities - particularly those in underserved areas - through patient care, leadership, and research. In consultation with the Program Director, primary responsibilities of the clinical coordinator are to oversee the clinical phase of student training to ensure effectiveness of instruction and to identify, develop, initiate, and implement instructional clinical experiences within the curriculum.

Faculty Position

The Physician Assistant Studies Program at The University of South Dakota invites applications for a full-time faculty position. Applicants at all levels of academic background and experience are encouraged to apply.

The University of South Dakota is located in Vermillion, SD near the beautiful Missouri River. The program is an accredited 28 month Master's Degree program and resides in the School of Medicine, Division of Health Sciences.

Responsibilities include:

  • Teach and advise students
  • Assist in curriculum development
  • Coordination/ evaluation of the didactic curriculum

A candidate must be a graduate of an accredited physician assistant training program; hold current NCCPA certification, and be eligible for South Dakota State licensure. Preference will be given to a candidate with an advanced degree. Masters or doctoral degree preferred; minimum of bachelors' degree with willingness to obtain masters degree. Successful candidates must have a minimum of 2 years experience in clinical practice and should possess strong communication and leadership skills. Teaching, scholarly and service activities are components of this position.

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. The position provides excellent benefits, and there is a significant opportunity to continue clinical practice. The Search Committee will begin screening applications March 1, 2005 and will continue until the position is filled.

Faculty Position

The Baylor College of Medicine Physician Assistant Program invites applications for a full-time faculty position. Appointment will be as an Instructor or Assistant Professor depending on education and experience.

Duties will include, but are not limited to, serving as course director for a longitudinal Cross Cultural Communications Course, small group preceptor, community-based practice recruitment, student progress evaluator, and other administrative duties within the PA Program.

This position requires NCCPA certification, eligibility for licensure to practice in the state of Texas, three years clinical practice experience, and a Master’s degree. (Additional clinical experience may qualify in place of the master’s degree.) Preferred but not required qualifications include: experience in didactic or clinical teaching in primary care, pediatrics or family medicine, excellent oral and written communication skills, and the willingness to learn and grow in an academic role.

Faculty Position

The University of Kentucky’s College of Health Sciences is seeking a person of vision with high energy and strong leadership skills to serve in this newly created position to support the College’s continued progress within the context of a top-level research university. The Associate Dean for Research will be an active member of the Dean’s leadership team and will work
collaboratively with individual faculty members, departments, centers and institutes. This person will provide leadership in advancing the College’s overall research mission and implementing programs to support externally
funded research.

COLLEGE OF HEALTH SCIENCES

The University of Kentucky’s 11 Colleges, 5 Professional Schools and The Graduate School support more than 30,900 students. The College of Health Sciences has 9 disciplines of study and approximately 1000 students
enrolled in bachelors, masters, and Ph.D., degree programs. Additionally, the College contributes significantly to the University’s national and international agenda through research, development, teaching, and service activities. It
is housed in a new 212,000 square foot, $32 million state-of-the-art wireless research and education facility.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Earned doctorate in a related Health Science field and successful academic experience as a faculty member appropriate for appointment at the associate professor or professor level in one of the academic units in the College of Health Sciences
  • Current extramural funding with a history of continued funding
  • Exemplary record of research, scholarship and inquiry
  • Substantial experience with grant and contract funded research
  • Commitment to mentoring faculty and developing successful extramural funding for the research agendas of the College of Health Sciences

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Successful experience in promoting collaborative and programmatic research across units or disciplines
  • Demonstrated record of organizational leadership in developing, managing, and sustaining a comprehensive program for funded research
  • Successful experience in promoting a culture that nurtures diverse forms of inquiry/scholarship
  • Successful experience with faculty development in research, including mentoring and technical assistance
  • Knowledge of pre- and post-award processes relating to funded research
