APAP Plans Clinical Coordinators Workshop for Semiannual Meeting

A special workshop for clinical coordinators is planned as part of the Faculty Development Institute’s offerings for APAP’s Semiannual Meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana. This add-on workshop is scheduled for Wednesday, May 21, the day before APAP’s Semiannual Meeting officially opens. The workshop will be led by Ruth Ballweg, MPA, PA-C, program director of the University of Washington MEDEX PA Program. Faculty assisting Ms. Ballweg will be announced. Modeled after previous workshops presented by the MEDEX Northwest Program in Seattle, clinical coordinators who register for this workshop will have the opportunity to

  • meet other clinical coordinators
  • explore the clinical coordinator’s “role”
  • expand their networking, communication, and administrative skills
  • understand and discuss timely issues
    • federal and state rules/regulations
    • documentation concerns
    • technology in the clinical year
  • wrestle with thorny problems
    • competing for/sharing clinical sites
    • dealing with difficult students
    • avoiding burnout
  • find out how other programs have dealt with
    • learning objectives, testing, and other types of evaluations
    • the expanded use of PDAs
    • international experiences
    • developing and nurturing sites
    • job development
